Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are at least a little connected worldwide to the internet after the expiration of about six hours.

Three Facebook-host platforms were down in many parts of the world, users reported Monday night. On Twitter, people posted messages saying the venues had not been accessible since 9 pm IST. About 400 million people use one or more of these platforms in India.

Andy Stone, who is in charge of communications on Facebook, took to Twitter, sending the message at 9.37 pm India time: "We know some people have trouble accessing our apps and products. disruption. "

India has the largest Facebook app and its platform with over 410 million users. WhatsApp, the messaging platform has 530 million users and Instagram has 210 million users, according to government data.

The power outage comes at a time when the whistle blames the media giant for prioritizing profits by curbing hate speech and misinformation.

On Sunday, Frances Haugen introduced herself as "Sean," a whistleblower facing Facebook. A product manager who worked for nearly two years on an informal public information team before leaving in May, Haugen used compiled documents to reveal how much Facebook knew about the evils it caused, and provided evidence to law enforcement, regulators, and the media.

In an interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, Haugen, 37, said he was shocked by what he saw on Facebook. The company puts its interests first and not the public, he said. So he copied the Facebook internal survey pages and decided to do something about it.

"I've seen a lot of social networking sites, and it's worse on Facebook than I've ever seen before," Haugen said. "Facebook, over and over again, has shown that it prefers profit rather than security."

Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has apologized for the shutdown of WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, which the communications company said was a result of "improperly made changes".
