There are styles better suited for babies like this flare/circle dress because it's really girly and princessy. It's a really simple style and took me 30 minutes to make.
I used an already drafted top bodice pattern as usual and for the skirt, I made the pattern directly on the fabric. There's a formula for cutting this skirt pattern, I know you might not like maths like me but don't fret, this is easy maths.
Waist circumference-2/3.14
I have a paper illustration to show the process.
- Fold fabric into two, from one pointed end, mark the length round with the answer you got above
- Now mark the full length of the skirt from the first circle
- Now cut out
I made a matching pattern on the lining fabric for the insides and attached top to skirt to form the dress. Closing the side seams and attaching a zip at the back.
Final look!
This mini dress can be worn with stockings or panty hose.
