Emily Blunt is one of my favorite actress and movie was not interesting at all from trailer but I did watched it because of her. Almost all of her movies are good and watchable.
The concept in this movie was nothing new which was alien invasion but screenplay and how they controlled it was little different from other movies. Planet Earth is invaded by creatures which are hyper sensitive to noise and blind to see anything.
Evelyn is struggling to survive with his husband and two children. One of the children commits a mistake of making noise with a toy and other child is killed. Later it is shown that too much noise is weakness of creatures because they can't distinguish movements in it.
Evelyn was pregnant and going to soon into labor. She alerts nearby creatures by dropping a glass. They are dramatically saved first but later on father gives his life to save them from creature. All the remaining children and Evelyn take refuge in basement. They find sound amplifier equipment there and decide to test it on creatures. When exposed to high pitched noise, creature's armor is destroyed and can be easily killed.
Now they have a weapon to fight back. Trailer for part 2 is already released, so excited to see the 2nd part.

I honestly can't understand what people saw as so spectacular in this movie. I mean, it's not bad... But sometimes it’s really boring and tiring.

I do understand why you must feel like that and I did mentioned that this concept is nothing new in relation to other alien movies. Its just screenplay was little different.
