This movie stars with after events of Avergers: Endgames. We lost Iron man in that and world is still recovering from him.
Iron Man was like a mentor to Spiderman and he was the one who eventually made him Avenger. Spiderman is still recovering by losing him and want to have good time with his friends.
A trip is planned and he wants to stay out of trouble for some time. Things does not go as planned and another threats arrive presumable from other dimensions.
Nicky Fury is also deceived in realizing the truth about this threat and believe the word of strange for explanation and consider him to be a good person. Nick does seek the help of Spiderman to eliminate the threat and influences his whole trip to make him go according to his way.
Spiderman feels responsible for putting his friends at danger but situation is getting out of control so he fully agrees to help. He commits a big mistake to trust this stranger too and gave him control over Stark's gift which can be weaponized.
After learning the secret, he let Fury know about his intention and final battle is staged in Augmented reality with set of Drones. It was not an easy battle to win but Spiderman does overcomes his fear and beat it.
