I've always been one for playing the slot machines, or the sports books in Casino's. I'm actually a bit of a sensible gambler, if that's even a thing. I remember whilst having a look through US Mobile Casino's I thought to myself, when did this even begin? I remember back safely in a time where we'd use our PC's to log onto our favourite Casino, but now it's all done by smartphone. Isn't it strange how far we've come?
It doesn't take long before you hit a website that tells you to download their app, or recommends that you browse their site by mobile for a better experience. Time has got up and moved on in a very big hurry. No longer are we waiting five minutes for a single picture to load, or waiting an hour to get an .mp3 so that we can play the latest music. It's all done in an instant and on our mobiles too.
I remember when the new wave of mobiles first came out. I remember my good friend showing me his new iPhone around 2008-ish. "This is all the rage, Raymond," he told me, and of course, me thinking like an old man set in his ways already I was thinking it'd never catch on. But it did. In fact today I think the stats are about roughly 80% of Internet traffic is mobile.
So the banks were the first to make the move to mobile if I remember rightly. They even designed brand new mobile websites to go with their new mobile functionality. Then they brought out their banking apps for mobile. Some banks won't even let you pass security unless you have their banking app installed. I know that one because I had to tow the line with that myself.
Then of course crypto went mobile. That was next. At the beginning you weren't any worthwhile coin unless you had some sort of mobile functionality built in to it. I can remember in the era of ICO's when everyone was releasing about one per day, they all had plans to develop a wallet app soon after release. I guess when you want to crowdfund money then you need to include everyone.
And if you were a trader that was next. Stock trader, crypto trader, you name it. All the popular finance exchanges now had mobile functionality and apps. I guess because they all knew where their clicks were coming from, and it wasn't through a web browser on a PC. And have you ever tried to navigate a normal website using your mobile? Never mind trade. Yeah, difficult. So apps were next.
Then of course came the gambling websites. I can remember playing them several years ago and never being bothered once to move to a mobile app. Now it seems Casinos are always reminding me to make use of their apps, and that if I use them I will have more benefits, for instance notifications right away instead of when I get back to my PC.
Yeah, mobile tech and finance has come a long way since inception. I remember you could get Football scores direct to your phone from the Casinos back in the day, now you can practically stream a match and watch it on your phone and get live betting updates. The technology behind it is absolutely amazing.
And it's all to do with the consumer base. If society had rejected mobile browsing then no-one would build mobile websites because it just wouldn't be worthwhile. Apps have been built in their thousands so that they can cater to the internet crowd en-masse. PC users like me are a dying breed I feel. A user-base from a time long forgotten. So I've had to familiarise myself with mobiles.
