Greetings my dear friends of Steemit and STEEM FOR INDONESIA
In continuation to my previous post on the exhibition 'Kolkata Memorabilia', which has been on till February 9. I observed few more interesting collections which are also very precious.
One can see the traces of Kolkata's 'Babu Culture' - 18th century oil paintings, pens, ink pods, glasses, sticks, pocket watches, specially made chairs for sitting in dhoti (gents bottom wear). In the evening, Baiji's dance-singing sessions were held in Calcutta and the night was spent drinking and eating. Matchbox labels of that time, cosmetic labels held the opportunity to see the pictures of those dancers.
Magic Emperor P C Sarcar, Sr., has established Indian magic in the world. Illustrated posters of the artist's show, costumes for the magic show in last trip to Japan and other photographs and documents belonging to this exhibition.
Taken on scrap paper or diary pages, the autograph is still treasured by many local people. In this exhibition it is in broad form. Authors' handwriting, in manuscript patterns.
There are also huge interesting variety of dolls. Engravings of public life from Ramayana-Mahabharata are also printed on hand paper and calendars, there are all those pictures. Bamapada Banerjee's mythological paintings, lithograph prints will be seen.
Paper Conservation Studios have been conserving a whole range of Indian artworks for upcoming exhibition.
They are quite a wide range from about 200 years of history from all across the state of West Bengal.
All the objects that go into exhibitions are checked to make sure that they're strong enough and stable enough. Inevitably with exhibitions there's a lot of handling and photography and transport. These objects are particularly fragile.
Paper supports from India suffer from all the usual wear and tear: losses from handling, insect damage. So the studios are working to stabilise those areas.
Before I conclude I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest
