Hello to the community, I hope everyone is doing great!!
Alright, friends! It's the day to do my weekly power-up. We hear the rush and fuzz about this from the day we set on this platform. So, let's see what's that about and the process along with participating in this contest by @jyoti-thelight.
So, you see three questions come in association with this process. What is it? How is it done? And why is it done?
Powering up means converting our liquid steem into Steemit power state. Let me simplify it. You know our rewards are basically coming in two ways. Steem and Steem Power. If we haven't set the rewards to 100% power up, the above is in 50-50. So, the steem power we received is just like staked/ locked coins. The things we can do with them are limited, but the effect is higher. With the other 50%, we can either manually power up or exchange.
So, I think what question is answered and now we will see how it's done.
Power up process
The process is pretty straightforward with a few steps. When you go to the wallet, you will see it below.
In the drop-down icon in front of the amount of Steem you have, there you can see the power-up option. Just click it.
Before Power Up
Here's my wallet before the power up.
100 STEEM POWER-UP
So, in the next window, you can type the amount you need to power up and click the power-up option. Then you only need to give the active key in the upcoming window, in a few seconds the process is done.
After Power Up
Before Power Up - 337.576 Steem, 21,003.259 SP
Amount Power up - 100 Steem
After Power Up - 237.576 Steem, 21,103.259 SP
The importance of Power Up
So, then to the third and valuable question. Why it is important?
It's the power you have in the platform. It's a measure of your influence on the platform in many ways. Have you ever received a big vote from the Steemit team? The ability comes with Steem power. So, mainly our voting power proportionally increasing with this. Then we can appreciate quality content, and give some value to them. In return, the curation rewards we receive are also increased. Or else, we can delegate our SP to different communities, make them self-sufficient, and enjoy the benefits that come with the delegation.
And having higher Steemit Power, what does that tell about the user? He is a committed, dedicated person to the platform. It gives you a good reputation among your colleagues. The ones who started from scratch and built up his name, or the ones who took a gamble and invested a lot on the platform, both play a key part in running this platform, more or less. And also, opportunities like steem representatives/ curators/ moderators, etc. will be opened for commitment to the platform.
Also, the higher the power, the higher the influence in witness voting. As mentioned by the team,
STEEM POWER increases at an APR of approximately 2.68%, subject to blockchain variance. See FAQ for details.
So, we received a good deal just like an interest in return. On the other hand, our little contribution helps to stabilize the ecosystem and price of the coin. And if you are optimistic about the coin price in the future, now it's the time to buy the dip. So, it's a win-win situation for both parties.
So, I think you got the picture!!
Thank you once again for hosting this nice contest. I hope you will find it interesting. I invite @sachisewwandi, @irawandedy, @simonnwigwe to the contest!
Until the next time! Enjoy!
Thank you.
Best Regards!
