In every democratic setting, voting is the right of every citizen as that is the only way their voice could be heard and also there choice of leader will be selected. But it's very unfortunate that in most countries, irregularities and disenfranchisement is the order of the day. Voting gives the citizens that acknowledgment that they are represented. Now I must state categorically that any country or nation where the government doesn't fear the masses, that country is doomed.

Voting System in Your Country

My country (Nigeria) happens to be the most populous country in Africa. It is bordered by Niger and Chad to the north, Cameron to the east, and Benin to the west.

In Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a nonpartisan Nigerian government agency charged with the conduct and supervision of elections where the presidential and National Assembly elections comes first while governorship and State House of assembly comes later.

Now for you to be eligible to vote, you must be a Nigerian Who is 18 years and above, you must be a registered voter being in position of what is called permanent voter's card(PVC).

Currently, the body vested with the power to conduct elections in my country introduced what is known as Bimodal voter Accreditation System (Bvas)as against the previous one used Smart card Reader (SCR) This Bvas is used for voter verification and authentication to confirm the identity of a voter using their fingerprints or face. This Bvas ensures that only person's eligible to vote and in possession of their PVCs and registered is allowed to vote.

Accreditation and Voting
Before you can vote, there's what is called Accreditation. First you must go to your pooling unit where you registered, there, the Bvas shall be used to verify you as the valid owner of the voter's card in your possession and that your name is on the register of voters in the pooling unit,if it matches with your fingerprints or face, then you will be allowed to vote but in the case the Bvas failing to recognize your fingerprints or face, you will not be allowed to vote.

After the voting, there's what is called collation and announcement of results, this is how the voting system is in my country (Nigeria).

How Election held in your country

Nigeria as my country operates a presidential system of government, and as such, elections are held every four years. Like I stated earlier,The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the electoral body responsible for conducting elections in Nigeria. This Commission is independent and has the constitutional Mandate to conduct elections and ensure they are free, fair, and credible.

The first step Vin the election process is what is called voter registration. Voter registration is conducted by INEC and is open to all Nigerian citizens who are 18 years of age and above. This is where the personal details of voters are captured such as photographs and fingerprints and the issuance of permanent voter's card (PVC) which is a requirement for being able to vote.

After voter registration,INEC conducts the nomination of candidates. Presidential and National Assembly candidates are nominated by political parties as well as state assembly and governor's being nominated by their respective political parties. It's now the duty of INEC to ensure that they meet the constitutional requirements for holding the office they seek.

The next thing is campaign's, candidates are allowed to campaign and hold rallies and make public appearance to solicit for votes. This is the most busy and active period in my Countries Electoral process. Candidates travels all over the country the country to reach voter's while being closely monitored by INEC to ensure that it's been done in a peaceful and orderly manner.

The next thing that follows is voting on the election day after the campaign's are done with,on the election day, voter's are given options to vote for.

29 May and we are heading to the voting poles in South Africa.
I think we are going to see a major shift in South Africa with the majority party not reaching that 51%
Well, only time will tell.

Good luck with the contest!

I hope you vote too.

Oh yes! I am voting! ❌
I cannot understand how people can complain but then they don't vote.
Tsk.. tsk!

Ok
