Hi Friends, I am back with another post. This is my travel diary of my 2nd day in Mysore and how it all went. So today I’ll share with you what all we did on the 2nd day of this trip and how we managed to move from one location to another. If you all missed out on my previous post, you can check that out over here. Alright, so let’s get started on my post for today.

Bandipur National Forest (On the way to Ooty)

Our plan for today was to visit the very beautiful hill station Ooty, which is at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 feet) above sea level and falls in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It’s pretty much a perfect place to go to see a few different things, like tea and coffee plantations, chocolate growing (cocoa plantation), botanical gardens, rose gardens, and many other things. Oh my, I can’t explain the joy of experiencing the weather and climate in this place. It’s just beautiful, and one should totally experience and explore such places 👌🏼.

Some beautiful Visuals and My mom and Dad ♥️

We inquired of the hotel owner in Mysore, where we had put up, to let us know if they knew of any drivers who would take us to Ooty. He gave us a contact number of a driver; we spoke to him and instructed him to come pick us up the next morning at 6:00 a.m. It was quite a height, so if we wanted to spend more time there and cover more places, we needed to leave as soon as possible from Mysore.

The next morning we woke up at around 5 and then got ready to leave. The driver came at around 6:10 a.m. We soon got into the car and first stopped for breakfast at around 7:30 a.m. We had some yummy idli as it’s fast, fresh, and delicious. After our delicious breakfast, we head towards the Western Ghats. As it was on such a height, my mom was a bit afraid as she has motion sickness, and she took extra precautions for that.

Delicious Idli

The distance was approximately 125.0 km, so it was going to take us 3 hours and 18 minutes to climb the hill. As we started our journey, we were expecting a big climb, obviously. But as we approached the Ghats, our car started giving some sort of trouble. We could literally see a little smoke coming out from behind. I’ll be honest; it was a bit scary at that moment, but it was all okay at the end. We had to take help from another jeep that was passing by near our car. Due to this small situation, we had to cut short our plan in Ooty because our main aim was to come back early before it turned dark.

Amazing Climate

We then shifted our plan to visit the Botanical Garden, have our lunch, do some shopping, and then return back down. It was surely just one spot, but even then it was amazing. We reached the Botanical Garden and paid a fee of ₹100 per person for entry. The garden was actually very old (since the time India was under the rule of the Britishers). There were a lot of different types of flowers, and it was really nice seeing those beautiful plants. We took some beautiful photos and then proceeded on our way out.

Flowery Day

Just like I mentioned above, Ooty is famous for the coffee plantation, cocoa plantation, and tea museum. We visited a shop where we could find some good coffee, great chocolates, hot chocolate, and a lot of different cookies. It was a wonderful experience. After completing our shopping, we went to an amazing restaurant and had some amazing sambaar rice and upma. I would highly recommend trying these dishes when in Ooty.

Soon after we were done with lunch, we planned to go back down to Mysore. But first we had to meet our previous driver whose car had broken down on the way to Ooty. He had parked it a place and let it cool down. Soon it was ready to take us back to Mysore. Here we finally come to an end to day 2. I will be back with the 3rd day of the Mysore trip. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and feedback. Until then, bye, take care, and stay healthy.
