Hello friend, greetings to you, and welcome to my post. I trust you are doing very well. I wish you a happy new year and many blessings in this new year of 2023 and beyond.

During the New Year's celebrations, what I usually do is wake up very early with my brother, trying to be the first to wish my loved ones a happy New Year. Before the celebration, I do go to cross overnight and stay in church until the first 12 o'clock of the year.

It's from church that I do come back home as early as possible and start wishing my beloved ones via calls and texts. After doing that, I will then go to bed and have some rest, after which I will begin to meditate on my journey, reflecting and projecting how my life would be in the year, which I usually call a year of another new beginning.

During the New Year, I only went out at an evening hour to a tourist place with my friends and spent some money there. While I am out with my friends at a very good place, we normally buy food and some drinks and eat to our satisfaction before leaving for home.

During the New Year celebration, there are not many organized cultural activities other than the meetings that people organize among themselves. The only cultural activities are the sharing of foods among loved ones and neighbors and the parties that usually take place.

During the celebrations of the new year, there are usually parties almost everywhere in my place, both traditional parties and others that are religious. The traditional parties are the ones that are organized by tribes and where you will see them putting on their traditional attire.

Normally, during the celebration, it is usually the ladies that do wear their attire, just like my sister, my neighbors' daughters, and their friends have their attire ready to attend a carnival.

During the celebration of the new year, there are many varieties of foods and meat. In my home, my dad loves eating rice and stew with goat meat, which you can see a sample of below.

Although, in my home, beside my Dad, who prefers eating rice and stew with goat meat, we, his children's at home, most especially my younger sister, prefer eating fried rice with chicken.

The preparation of the chicken

As you can see from the images above, we have started preparing our rice, stew, and chicken, which I have already skewered for my sister to start cooking.

Normally, during New Year celebrations, we do decorate our home with some balloons and some confetti poppers to make the celebration memorable.

It has been a while since we did such a thing in my home, as we only come back and gather as a family once in a while.
