Hi friends,
The day before yesterday, January 26, India celebrated its 76th Republic Day. This is the biggest festival celebrated by the Indian government. On that day, all government services are given a holiday, schools, colleges, and government offices are hoisted with the national flag, and parades and art and cultural shows are organized.
In the capital of India, Delhi, the Honorable President hoists the flag and receives the parade of the three armed forces and the parade of different departments. Also on that day, a display of the skills and equipment of the Indian Army and the three armed forces is held. This is especially celebrated in Delhi. Similarly, in all states, districts, and every town, the national flag is hoisted on Republic Day. There are many cultural shows held in colleges and schools. It is also held in the capital of that district by the district collectors.
Since my daughter is studying in college, she participated in the college PARADE as she is in the NCC. So, we were invited. Similarly, the Republic Day festival was celebrated in my son's school. However, since my daughter was participating in the parade, we didn't send my son to school to watch it but took him with us to college.
The program was supposed to start at 8 am, so we woke up at 5 am and got ready because it would take about two hours to get from our house to the college. We left home at around 6 am. By the time we got to the college, it was a quarter past seven, and everyone was getting ready for the ceremony. I looked for my daughter, who was also standing third in the second line in the parade with the other students, wearing all the accessories for the NCC uniform. It was a bit difficult to find her as everyone was wearing the same uniform. However, it was very proud to see her in such great uniform standing.
At exactly eight o'clock, the Chief Guest, the Principal, and all the officials of the college arrived. After that, the Chief Guest was called to the stage, and the national flag was hoisted. After that, the national anthem was sung after paying homage to the flag. After that, the parade started. NCC students walked in a group with their flags in their hands and played the music of the parade with instruments. After them, NSS students, sports students, and other students walked and paraded. The Chief Guest, the Principal, and the NCC officer accepted their respect.
After that, there were cultural programs. Students presented an awareness play on organ donation. The students danced on the theme of Republic Day. After that, some students sang speeches and songs. The cultural programs were very beautiful to watch. After the cultural programs, the students were given ranks and prizes.
After that, the ceremony ended. All the students took a group photograph. It was very exciting to see them taking photos together in uniform. We also went and took a photograph with them. My daughter took a picture with her friends. It was very beautiful to see. We also took a selfie with them. After that, a breakfast was served to all those who had come and we also went to have a feast. The breakfast consisted of idli, dosa, pongal, ulundhu vada and sweets. The food was very tasty.
After the meal, we gave my daughter the snacks, fruits, and other items that we had already bought because she was staying in the hostel and could not go out to buy them. After that, we said goodbye to everyone and left. The ceremony was very beautiful. We considered it lucky to see such a ceremony. We were very happy to celebrate this festival that expresses the pride of our country.

I agree that the most fun activity during Independence or Republic Day is the match parade. It can be a bit stressful, especially when it involves standing under the sun but it builds a satisfying experience there after.
One more thing...
No public event is ever complete without cultural display. It's that moment we get to celebrate our indigenous cultures and way of life. I would have loved to see your rich culture and heritage. Looking forward to reading more about you and your culture. Ciao!
