Hello to all steemians of this community

It is a joy for me to be here participating in the season-6 week-1 of the steemit engagement challenge contest in our beloved @hindwhalecommunity. This week’s topic is "Steemit Engagement Challenge: Season 6 Week 1 - What outdoor games did you play as a child that aren't famous worldwide?" Before I start writing I would like to invite my friends to participate in the contest. They aren’t my friends, I follow them

Swimming Competition

The theme of this engagement challenge is childhood outdoor games. I am from Bangladesh and Bangladesh is a riverine country. There are numerous rivers around Bangladesh. I spent my childhood in a village.

A river flows through the middle of that village. I played various games in that river and on the banks of the river as a child. It is a very common childhood game in our country. Since it was a branch of a large river, the river has low water throughout the year except for certain two-three months of the year. I used to swim in this river with some of my friends. Whoever could swim across the current the fastest was the winner. This game was very risky but because there were always people in the river, such accidents did not happen. I was very brave as a child.

I also made different shapes like paradise, fish, cup, and spoon with the sand at the river bank.

How this game stimulates child development

  • Swimming improves muscle strength in people of all ages, especially children.
  • Swimming is a very beneficial exercise for children.
  • It helps a child to become confident.
  • It helps a child to survive in a difficult situation.
  • It improves the creativity of a child (making something with sand)

Seven Stone

Seven stone is a traditional game in our country. The local name of this game is "boom blasting". I played this game with my friends. They were too good at this game. I and my team heardy win.

Needed materials for this game

A small ball (rubber ball)
Stones
More than three players

The name of this game is Seven Stones. In this game, seven stones are placed on the ground to form mini towers or stacks. From bottom to top the stones are progressively smaller in size. Instead of stones, we have used flat-shaped burnt clay, tiles. Which is known as "Jhik" in our country. One team will use a tennis ball to break the stack of stones and throw the tennis ball on the opponent's back. The opposing team has to build the stack or tower as before but they have to be careful not to touch the ball, I mean they have to save themselves from opponent team members. If they can rearrange the stones as before, they will win and if they can't, they will lose. It is a supper exciting game.

How this game stimulates child development

  • This game helps to increase the concentration of children.
  • It develops throwing capacity.
  • Exercise through running is beneficial for the growth of children.

Blind bee

The game I played the most as a child was Blind Bee. In our language, it is called Kanamachi. This game is very popular. Children play this game in almost all countries of the world. Children of our country still play this game with great interest. Children of the city play this game on the school grounds.

Needed materials for this game
  • Cotton cloth
  • More than 4-5 players
  • A safe playground

By hearing the name of this game we can get an idea about the game. However, I am telling you how to play it. First, one player blindfolds the other player with the cloth. He can't see anything. Then the others circle that person like bees. Then the rest say loudly, "Kanamachi bhoo bhoo, jake pabi take cho".(Oh buzzing blind bee! Touch us if you can!)

How this game stimulates child development

  • This game helps the development of the sixth sense of a child.
  • Make children focused on soundscape because in this game they had to close their eyes.
  • This game Increases the intuitive power of the children.

Good to read your detailed article.
Best wishes!

Thank you so much. Childhood memories are always jolly.

Actually we all played almost every childhood outdoor games of all countries. There is some changes in game's name or materials but I think 80% of the childhood game are same all over the world. Thank you for reading my post.
