Dear Diary,

I have come to the village and my uncle and aunt have come to my house. I am busy taking care of them. I have breakfast and take breakfast for my uncle. Today his breakfast consisted of roti, egg and pitha. My mother has prepared these pitha on the occasion of their arrival. Also, winter is the time for pitha in Bangladesh. Here we have dudhchitai and poya pitha. These two are dessert items. Tomorrow another pitha will be prepared. It is banana cake. I will present the rural recipe of that cake to you, inshallah.

Almost every day a vendor comes to our village to sell plastic toys. Today he came too. I stopped the vendor and bought a toy car for my niece. I have shared with you before that the prices of toys here are very cheap. I bought a pink car for 20 BDT or .75 shillings. My niece was very happy to get that car. After paying the money, the man took his bicycle and went ahead.

The most vibrant thing about the village is its animals. In the picture above, you can see a hen with her chicks basking in the sun. I always find these animals very beautiful. I don't know who these domesticated hens are. They were sitting in our yard basking in the sun, so I was able to photograph them. After a while, when I went outside, I saw a goat basking in the sun on the wall of our house. Although I had a hard time photographing the goat, I still tried to take beautiful photographs.

I will show you the most beautiful thing in our village. This is the gourd plant planted in my yard. Its shape is not straight because this gourd is a late production and has not received full nutrition. Apart from that, the picture I shared with you on the side is of the bean flower. It has two colors, one is white and the other is purple. I like purple flowers more than white. I will show you the white flowers in my next diary post.

The special dish is laddu. In our regional language we call it nadu which is made with sesame seeds. Sesame nadu is a very popular dish in our country. It is made with sugar and given a round shape. These nadus are so hard that I found it difficult to eat them. The funny thing is that my mother could not eat them at all.

While we were having dinner, a cat came into the dining room. Although it is not our pet cat, it still comes to our house when we are having dinner. The cat is very cozy and is sitting on the carpet because of the cold. I photographed it from a short distance.
