A nonmetallic chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number 16, sulphur is also referred to as sulphur. It is a solid that is yellowish and can be found in nature either as a pure substance or mixed with other substances like sulphides and sulphates. Proteins and nucleic acids are just two examples of the many biological molecules that include sulphur, an element that is necessary for life.
