My Favorite Language: English

As far as the language is considered, it can be added that English is a West Germanic language having been formed at least over the mentioned period and mainly spoken in England. The language as with many other Europeans has developed from Old English, which was the language of Germanic tribes who intervened Britain after the collapse of the Roman Empire. As is known, English has been replete with words of Scandinavian origin (Old Norse), French origin (Norman French), Latin, and Greek origin.

Nevertheless, there’s one more thing that makes me proud of the English language: it is widely used and can be modified. As of today it is English, the universal language with 1.5 billion speakers, but the population is dwindling. The transaction of communication is one of the media and the language used to inform others has reached fifty over the world and is being used as the main point of communication in the market of science, technology and commerce. As a result, the English speaking community has become in a position of sharing with people of other cultures and learning and sharing with them.

Besides, one cannot but note that English is not only a modern language of communicative interaction, but also has a magnificent tape of the world’s literature, which is represented in the language. Some of the best English authors include William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Mark Twain, and others. The value of the English language is expressed in its versatility, as its different authors had different works, and made the English language become very colorful.

This article will discuss briefly the following on the history of the English language;

English language is also said to have evolved from Germatic language and has many similarities to that language. Arriving to Britain in the 5th century AD the Angles, Saxons and Jutes introduced the proto-Germanic language developing in to Old English. Old English was the language of the Anglo-Saxons, both spoken and written, and it was characterized thick inflectional word system and quantitative different lexical stock.

The English language has even more changed in 1066 when the Normans conquered England and began to replace English speakers with their own. The Normans, who came from a foreign component of Scandinavians that fixed permanently in France, thoroughly hesitant a form of French that remained the tongue of governing in England. Eventually a large proportion of French words were adopted into English most notably in legal terminology as well as civil administration and the art worlds.
What is more that period of borrowing contributed to the development of Middle English., The language spoken between the 11th and the late 15th centuries.

Great Vowel Shift is what happened to the English language by the end of the fifteenth century. The words of English language were pronounced differently. This was a set of shifting of resonance of the long vowels which led to the modern development of English. It also evidenced the use of many native English words during this period which tended to dominate many of the borrowed French words. The change of the periodization of English was from Medieval English to Early Modern English at this stage.

Engaging the technological advancements, the 17th and 18th centuries also witnessed English language to go on diversifying and diffusing as the English-speaking people travel and settle all over the world. English therefore expanded to different cultures and languages as such and incorporated even more of these into the making of the language.

During the 20th century and due to the booster of the science and technical revolution and growth of the globalized world, a new number of English terms and expressions were added. Today it has become a modern language which is constantly in change and at the same time hundreds of words are entering today like today.

Preventing Failure in Communication and Building Good Communication

As any learner of language knows one of the main complexities of language is that of the possibility of misunderstanding. We fail to see cues they’re not supposed to see because of cultural backdrops, regional peculiarities, or just for failing to truly grasp just what the interlocutor said or meant exactly.

To avoid miscommunication and create effective communication in the English language, there are several steps that can be taken:

1. Clarity and concision:

Avoid wordiness, express your ideas directly and erase any tendency to use terminology which is special to your field of study. It can also assist in making sure your message gets through to the intended audience specific to your type of content creation.

##2. Active listening:
Using energy to listen to the speaker’s tone, the speed they speak and their nonverbal gestures. By listening this way, it can assist you in getting in context for the message being delivered and perhaps even notice tones or vagueness which may help to clue you in.

3. Cultural awareness:

Pay attention to the cultural differences possible and their effects on procommunications. Major source of difference between speaker and listener could be the cultural background of the speaker.

4. Use of appropriate language:

Use relevant words and phrases that match the content to create or in view of who the content is intended for. Don’t use any other thought, proverbs, colloquialisms nor something that the listener might not understand.

5. Practice and repetition:

Acquiring good language habits requires time and effort to be made. If an individual usually communicates with other people, he or she will usually have an enhanced capability to communicate.
