Lilian sat lost in thoughts as she recounted the words of her aunty. You are nothing but a useless child of a useless woman and am only trying to help you. You better do all I ask or I would throw you out of my house to live in the streets.

Lilian was the only child of her parents who had both died in a car accident and she came to live with her mother’s sister who doesn’t like her at all because she sees her as a liability. Her aunty also had an only child Mary before she lost her husband to cancer.

Lilian and Mary were being trained by Mary’s mum but Mary was a spoilt child and would treat Lilian badly just like her mum. Lilian had no choice than to decide to endure all the ill treatment. After all she doesn’t have anyone or anywhere to go to. She was a poor orphan.

Her aunty had a friend Susan who always visited them with her son Henry. Henry was well mannered and like to play with Lilian but Mary would always kick against it. Mary’s mum and Susan were best of friends and had always wanted their children to marry each other.

Times passed and the children grew into young adults. One day Henry fell sick and was diagnosed with kidney failure. Susan was worried as she was no match for her son to donate a kidney for him and she didn’t want to loose her only son. She told Mary’s mum who secretly told her that Lilian has decided to donate a kidney for Henry but she was only trying to use Lilian without her notice so that when Henry gets better he would marry her daughter like she always wanted. She didn’t want her own daughter to risk her life with the donation.

Unknown to her Lilian over heard her talking with Susan. The next day she told Lilian to get dressed that they were going to the hospital. Lilian told her that she over heard her conservation with Susan and was willingly to donate a kidney to Henry if they were a match just to safe Henry’s life.

Henry’s life as saved through Liliana donation but they didn’t tell him it was Lilian that donated the kidney because Mary’s mum convinced her friend not to tell the son. Susan flew her son abroad for studies while Mary was also flown abroad but Lilian was left at home

Susan gave Mary’s mum money to send Lilian to the university as an appreciation for the kidney donation but she squandered the money and left Lilian at home running errands for her. She was maltreating her and compelling her to run errands even after the surgery.

Henry gave Lilian some money before he left for the states and told her he was coming back for her. He liked Lilian because she was well behaved but Mary was a spoilt child full of vices. Lilian used the money that Henry gave her to buy a laptop and applied for online courses were she learned some skills and began to make some money for herself online but she did all of that in hiding.

Mary was deported from the states for drugs doing and truancy from school and came back home to continue her useless lifestyle and her mother never cautioned her. She was busy bragging to everyone in Henry’s mother’s company that she was engaged to Henry and she was very lazy to work. She left her job for other junior staff members.

Henry came back four years later and resumed duty as the new CEO in his mother’s company were Mary also worked. She was messing up things at work and he fired her. He was a disciplined young man. He told his mother that he would not marry Mary as she was a spoilt lady and was very lazy but that he rather wants to marry Lilian.

The mother was in support of him and they later discovered that Mary’s mum didn’t send Lilian to school. It was at this point that Henry found out that it was Lilian that donated the kidney for him but he was told that it was Mary and she had always used that to blackmail him into marrying her.

He said to Lillian, “no wonder I had always felt drawn to you, it’s because I had a part of you in me”. He proposed to Lilian and married her. While Mary on the other hand started dating a street boy who told her to give him some money to start a business that he would pay her back in one week.

She went and collected all the money in her mother’s account and gave to her new street boyfriend who took all the money and disappeared. They were left bankrupt and nothing to hold unto meanwhile Lilian was happily married to Henry.

Mary abandoned her mother and fled. No body knew her way about. Susan was lonely and poor. She went to Lilians house and begged her to forgive her of all the bad things she did to her. Henry and Lilian forgave her and helped her start life again but she has learnt her lessons the hard way.

The moral of this story is to ensure that you train your children well as a parent, don’t spare the rod and spoil the child. Secondly, wickedness is bad, be good to people because no condition is permanent. Thirdly, forgiveness is a part of our lives, learn to forgive others no matter how they wronged you.
