When you ask anyone how is it going in life? You will get to hear their worries about different things.
The one thing that is common in today's world is stress of the unknown and future.
Interestingly, centuries ago a person was curious about this stress thing and took out an experiment to know the effect of stress on our physical being.
That man is a famous scientist and philosopher IBN Sina who preferred to do this instead of enjoying quality time with family after his working hours.
This man wasn't stopping anywhere soon so he took two lambs and kept them in two cages. Both were of the same age, height, weight, and Fed the same food.
Out of his mischievous nature, Ibn Sina placed a wolf in a cage adjacent to one of the lambs in such a way that only one lamb could see him.
The lamb who could see the wolf became frightened at his sight.
Poor beauty was afraid of the beast.
However, the wolf was a gentleman, he didn't do anything to scare the lamb. He wasn't even seeing the lamb, just minding his own business.
But a wolf is a wolf even if he is caged.
The fragile heart of the lamb couldn't get along well with the wolf's shadow. He couldn't eat and sleep properly.
Sleep deprivation wasn't letting his brain expel all the toxins from his body. He had frequent episodes of stress-induced headaches.
It all messed up his metabolism. What he was eating was not getting digested properly because:
Our brain and gut health are linked.
If one goes down so will the other.
His body wasn't developing like his fellow lamb. He was growing weaker day by day.
He was tense and harassed all the time. All because of the unnecessary stress.
It weakened his neuron connections which ultimately resulted in poor memory and decision making.
He would just see the wolf to get terrified.
Some people feed on their own fears(maybe just like the author).
What if he growls at him? What if he kills me? What if he eats me afterward?
Ignoring the fact that all the cages were locked and the wolf wasn't even interested in looking at him.
CMON yr seriously?
Another lamb was enjoying his meals and the cozy environment without even knowing what his fellow lamb was going through.
We have become so full of ourselves that we don't bother to interact with our neighbors to know if they are fine or have any worries.
We also feel ashamed to seek the help of anyone and share our deepest fears because of their judgment.
Where are we heading?
Consequently, the lamb who went through constant stress died prematurely while another lamb was healthy physically and mentally.
Through this experiment, Ibn Sina concluded that to remain healthy we don't just have to eat healthy, we do need to take care of our mental health and feed our minds with clean talk.
We are also doing the same in our lives and then complaining about ailments that weren't common two decades ago.
What are we doing? We are constantly bombarding our brains with negative news through social media.
Social media makes us think that we are:
- constantly in need of something
- not enough
- in a state to do more all the time
- not going to survive if we fail to follow these life gurus.
It makes us worry about things that we can't change.
We fear about our future and what it holds for us. We fear the person we will marry and link our traumas to this new relationship.
We keep on thinking negatively about the situation without knowing the other side of the scenario.
What does this worrying do?
It only snatches the peace we have in the present moment.
It makes us neglect all the blessings we have.
It makes us ungrateful souls living without purpose.
Our grandparents are right when they say: keep yourself preoccupied with work that you have no time to think evil-ish things.
Worrying and taking stress are the devil's whispers. He wanna make us lose hope of Allah's mercy just like him.
Let's thank Ibn Sina aka Avicenna for conducting this experiment and shedding light on the importance of right thinking for a healthy body.
It is a reminder for anyone who is going through the phase of worrying.
Put your trust in the one and only who created this universe. Will he not make a way out for you when you feel trapped?
Rest assured, you'll be taken care of:)
@mehwish-almas @soulfuldreamer @naina9 what are your thoughts about it?
Apologies in advance for the mention, you guys aren't forced to response:)
I agree with you 100%, of course these negative thoughts have a very bad effect on human health and human life. But it is also 100% true that we have no control over that thought, be it negative or positive. If our thinking, our circumstances and the environment around us is good, it has a good effect on our life and our mind. But if even one of these things has a negative role in our life, So its effects are seen in the form of depression and diseases. And of course this situation is very dangerous.

Yeah, these philosophical things are so good to read about but so hard to implement in real life.
But still it gives hope sometimes to do it differently in difficult situations😉
