Once upon a time, in a small countryside province sandwiched between gently rising hills and placid rivers was the protagonists, Amelia and Thomas. They were the perfect couple, they used to be seen walking hand in hand; their giggling was heard all across the village with the stone paved roads.
However, their happiness was doubled, boosted by third time lucky in the following summer when Amelia got pregnant much to their rejoicing because now they were getting their first child. The villagers were delighted as well and looked forward to the coming of the newest addition to that small-boned neighbourhood. Weeks then turned into months and all the while Thomas pampered Amelia and made sure that she was well taken care of at all times.
But, when the due date arrived, misfortune happened tragically. When one evening there was a storm, Amelia’s time came earlier and she delivered a baby. That is why the local doctor did his best, but some difficulties appeared. For several hours, Amelia was struggling and finally delivered a beautiful baby boy, however, she was left severely exhausted. She mumbled her last words to Thomas, well knowing that she was going to die soon, “Please, take care of our son.”
Thomas was heartbroken. It could be used to describe the state of a man, who has lost the woman he loved and is now suffering from the emptiness deep inside. Despite this, there is joy ahead and he focuses on the child, a boy who was born to him and Amelia and he named him Samuel, after the favourite prophet of his wife.
Then aging years came, and Thomas was fully occupied with bringing up Samuel. He talks with him about pleasant things he would learn from Amelia such as her gentle-heartedness, her joyous nature, and even her visions for their future as a small family. Their friends in the village stood by them and gave them love and that little boy, Samuel always had to know that he was surrounded with people who loved him dearly.
Samuel grew up and resembled both his mother Amelia, through the shining smile and strength like his father Thomas. He was loved by all the inhabitants of the village; he became a symbol of hope and happiness left after the tragedy full of love and desire to live. In the character of Samuel Thomas got a new flavor of happiness as he valued every day like a precious gift that Amelia had given him.
