Gracious greetings beautiful Steemians, I am thrilled to be a part of this contest. Thank you @suboohi for this contest. Today I'll be telling us a story about the palm fruit

Once upon a time in a distant village called Ikot Ekpeyak, there was a lush, green forest near the village, and in the forest stood a towering palm tree. It had vibrant broad leaves which swayed to the rhythm of the breeze, it also had a tall and slender trunk which shot up to the sky.

The palm tree was a very fruitful one and at its top were a group of red and yellow fruits shoved into its strong branches. These palm fruits were loved and treasured by the people, especially the king.

The king loved its rich oil, especially in his meals, and looked forward to those meals, which soon became his favorite. The people even discovered that every part of the tree and fruit was very useful.

One day, lightning struck, and the palm fruit had a terrible disease. Suddenly, it stops bringing fruit and the king orders his servants to find a solution. Arit, who was known as the village's oldest and wisest woman, advised the king to tend and nurture the palm trees as well as plant new seedlings with his own hands.

The king quickly disagreed, but then as days grew into weeks he became very desperate and finally agreed to tend the tree. So he put off his kingly attire, his demeanor and, with his hands and efforts, the tree began to flourish, and the new seedlings were thriving as well.

From this act he learned to have great respect for his workers, people, his land and its gifts. He constantly tended the farmland, bearing in mind the lessons of humility and gratitude and this brought even more riches to his kingdom.
