Hello there, my fellow steemit friends. It's a new week and I wish you all the very best this new week. In my article today, I will be writing about football. I feel so excited to finally write a contest related to my best sport, football.

The Game Football
Modern football began in Britain in the 19th century. The football game consist of two teams with eleven players. Players use all part of their body except their hands and arms to try and maneuver the ball into the opponent goal. In the game, only the goalkeeper is permitted to handle the ball with and within the penalty area. The team who scores the most goals win the match. The game is played by both the male and female gender.

Football is the world most popular ball game with a lot of spectators and participants and it is played in all countries of the world. The game is simple in it's rules and essential equipment and that is why it can be played anywhere. It can be played from official football playing fields to the streets, school, playgrounds, parks or beaches.

The highest football body is the Federation International Football Association. This body showed us that over 1 billion people have interested in football especially when the world cup is being played. The world cup is the highest football competition in the world and it is played after every four years.

Football has produced a lot of great players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Pele, Maradona, Kylian Mbappe, Zidane, etc

Other popular football competitions include the Asian cup, Champions league, African Cup Of Nations (AFCON), Premier League, Laliga, Seria A, Bundesliga, EURO, etc.

Am I a Football Player?

Yes I am. Let me show us the football positions and the position I play.
Football consist of eleven players who different positions and perform different roles while playing. We have;

The Goalkeeper: He prevents the ball from entering the goal post.
The Defenders: The help the goalkeeper a lot as their work is to defend the opponent from scoring goals.
The midfielders: The midfielders are the middle men. They get the ball from the defenders and get it to the strikers to score goals. Without the midfielders the strikers find it hard to score goals and as a result they may lose the match.
The Strikers: The strikers score goals with the help of the midfielders and the wingers. The wingers also act as strikers but they are not. This is because they play the front line as well.

I am a defender. I know how to mark and defend ball a lot. I play right back a lot. I got this motivation from Reece James and Alexander Arnold who are the best right backs in the premier league. I know how to give passes and cross ball as well. I score goals as well if I have the opportunity to do so. In my school, I study Microbiology and whenever my department have a match I am always selected in the first eleven starting players.

Football clubs varies depending on the name of the league it is inside. Some popular football clubs are as follows;

Paris Saint German (PSG) (Ligue)
Akwa United ( Nigeria Football Federation)

I have mentioned 5 football clubs above. The first four clubs are top clubs in Europe biggest league. The fifth club is a club in my country league.

Who will win AFCON 2024

African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2024 has began. Group stage matches are still being played. A lot of countries has shown their best so far. Today Nigeria is playing and I wish them all the best. From my analysis, the country that can win the AFCON is Senegal. The have won all their matches so far and they are the defending champions too.

Other countries that may likely win AFCON include: Morocco, Cape Verde, Nigeria, etc.
