Good day once again to everyone, my name is oluwatimileyin and I am happy to participate in the week 6 Engagement contest with the title: How to Practice Meditation Every Day.
Meditation is the practice of training the mind to focus and be present at the moment. Meditation typically involves sitting or lying down in a quiet and comfortable space and focusing the attention on the breath or a specific thought.
Meditation can be defined as a mental practice that involves focusing one's attention on a specific object, thought, or activity to achieve a state of clarity, calmness, and relaxation. Meditation is a technique that has been used for thousands of years in various cultures and religions to promote spiritual growth, improve mental clarity, and improve overall well-being(both physical and emotional).
Meditation has been shown to have multiple health benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, improving sleep quality, boosting the immune system, reducing symptoms of depression, and enhancing emotional stability. Some investigations have also found that regular meditation practice can boost gray matter in the brain, which is associated with improved mental function and emotional regulation.
The practice of meditation can take many forms, including focused breathing, visualization, and mindful awareness of one's thoughts and sensations. Different types of meditation can have different effects on the mind and body, so it's important to find a technique that works best for you.
Generally, meditation is a simple yet powerful tool that can help promote physical and mental well-being. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level, and can be incorporated into a daily routine to help manage stress and improve the overall quality of our daily life.
Here, I am going to list some basic guidelines for beginners who want to start a meditation practice:
First of all, Find a quiet and comfortable space: Choose a quiet and comfortable place where you can sit or lie down without being disturbed. Or, You can also create a designated meditation space that is peaceful and calming.
Choose a time: Choose a time convenient for you when you can meditate consistently every day. This can be in the morning, before bed, or during your lunch break.
Sit comfortably: Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight, shoulders relaxed, and hands resting in your lap or on your knees.
Focus on your breath: Focus your attention on your breath, either on the sensation of air moving in and out of your nostrils or the rise and fall of your chest. If your mind rambles, gently bring your attention back to your breath.
Let go of thoughts: Thoughts will inevitably arise during meditation, but the goal is to observe them without judgment or attachment and then let them go. Don't get frustrated if your mind rambles - this is normal!
Start with short sessions: Start with short meditation sessions of 5-10 minutes and gradually increase the time as you feel comfortable.
Be patient and persistent: Meditation is a practice that requires patience and persistence. Don't expect to master it all at once overnight, and don't be discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Stick with it and trust the process.
However, Remember that meditation is a personal practice, and there is no "right" or "wrong" way to do it. The most important thing is to make it a regular part of your routine and approach it with an open and curious mind.
As a student at university, it is very challenging for me to find time to meditate amidst my busy schedule. However, even just a few minutes of meditation every day helps me to reduce stress and improve my focus. Here are some tips that I use to incorporate meditation into my daily routine:
I set a Schedule: The Best thing I do is that I set aside a specific time each day or sometimes once in 2 days for meditation, whether it's in the morning before my classes, or before I go to bed.
Start small: Sometimes I Start with short meditation sessions of just a few minutes and gradually increase the time as I feel comfortable. Even just a few minutes of daily meditation can make a difference.
I Use guided meditations: There are many apps like Daily Yoga, Calm, and also some websites that offer guided meditations. I use these apps for keeping me focused and providing structure to my practice.
I Find a quiet space: Finding a quiet and comfortable space where one can meditate without being disturbed is important. Sometimes I do this in the corner of my room.
Remember, meditation is a personal practice, and what works for me may not work for others. everyone should Experiment with different techniques and find what works best for them. With regular practice of meditation, you will start to notice improvements in your focus, concentration, and overall well-being.
Meditation has many positive effects on the body, and these are the positive result I have discovered so far in my body after meditating:
Reduced stress: Ever since I started regular meditation, the levels of the stress hormone in my body have been shown to reduce, which I understand that this helps lower blood pressure, improve mood, and also reduce anxiety.
Improved sleep: Regular meditation practice has helped to improve the quality of my sleep and as well help reduce insomnia.
Lower blood pressure: Regular meditation also helps to lower my blood pressure and also helped with hypertension.
Improved mental function: I believe that my constant Meditation has helped to improve my memory function, and boost my focus.
Meditation has many positive effects on the body and also the mind. However, it's important to note that everyone's experience with meditation is different, and results may also vary depending on factors such as the duration of practice, individual health conditions, and lifestyle factors.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, meditation is a powerful tool that can help improve both physical and mental health. Regular meditation practice can help reduce stress, improve sleep, boost the immune system, reduce blood pressure, and improve brain function.
it's important to remember that everyone's experience with meditation is different, and it may take time to find the technique that works best for you. With regular practice and patience, meditation can be a valuable addition to anyone's wellness routine. I would like to invite @jasminemary, @Lhorgic, and @icon-monday to participate in this contest.

Hey friends, your writing about meditation is very interesting and packaged in a good post. I think everyone must do meditation in their own way and the goals are also different but still get peace in the end.
