For the development of a country, freedom is essential to provide the basic needs of the citizens of that country as well as all kinds of facilities. Such a terrible situation was created in our Bangladesh In 1971, the military forces of West Pakistan stood up against the oppression that was being done on the people of East Pakistan, i.e. present Bangladesh, and called for independence on March 26, 1971. present-day Bangladesh and called for independence on March 26, 1971. We celebrate this historic day in the history of Bangladesh as our country's Independence Day.
The nation of Pakistan was formed in 1947 with the two countries of West Pakistan and East Pakistan. Since then, the rulers of West Pakistan continued to oppress the people of East Pakistan for various reasons. The brutal oppression of the Govt. of East Pakistan and present-day Bangladesh continues day after day. Once the people of Bangladesh protested against it. With a call from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh, all Bangladeshis jumped into this fight. Finally, on December 16, 1971, the military forces of West Pakistan accepted defeat and we gained independence and formed a new state called Bangladesh.

If we talk about the independence war of our country, the person who has to be remembered first is BongBandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At that time, he was considered as the most popular leader of Bangladeshis. We were fed up being oppressed and oppressed by the rulers of West Pakistan day after day. The level of oppression of the military forces was increasing all around. That's when Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called for independence on March 26, 1971, to free the people of the country from this terrible environment. And we all responded to his call. All the Bengalis rushed into the war.
If he hadn't called for independence that day, maybe we would never have tasted freedom. Although he made many mistakes in the later period, but he is definitely a respected person at the national level. That's why he is so important in history and to us.

We can never forget our Independence Day. So, every year when the 26th of March comes, we are re-energized. We fondly remember those who sacrificed their lives for this freedom.

- They were honored with flowers at the Independence Pillar.
- Patriotic songs and poems were performed throughout the day.
- The history of that time is told to everyone from those who are alive among the heroes of that time.
- Special prayers are arranged in every mosque, temple, church, and pagoda.

A country that does not have freedom has nothing in it. Hence, people have sacrificed themselves to achieve freedom throughout the ages. Day after day I had to bear torture, I had to accept imprisonment. It did not matter how much suffering I was suffering. The main target was to gain freedom. Because-
- If there is no freedom, there is no freedom of speech, you cannot freely express your opinion.
- Without freedom, the basic needs of the people are not fulfilled.
- If there is no freedom, the development of the country stops.
- Without freedom, people cannot express their humanity.
- After all, a life without freedom means living like a slave, where there is no humanity at all.
And that is why freedom is so important for a country or a nation.
