What you understand by the word confusion?

Confusion can be defined as a state of mental uncertainty, in which someone lacks understanding of a present situation. It can be caused by different factors such as; lack of information, emotional distress and sensory overload.
Furthermore, confusion can lead to feeling of fear, anxiety and helplessness which usually interferes with an individual's ability to make decisions, solve problems and perform tasks. It is temporary and can be solved by providing support and assistance to the individual.
Examples of confusion includes:
• Being in an unfamiliar place
• Receiving a confusing information.
• Suffering from anxiety and depression.

How does being confused affect you mentally?

Anytime I am confused, it has a lot of negative mental effects on me which are:

• Giving me a feeling of frustration, anxiety and helplessness as I struggle to understand what is happening.

• Secondly, It makes it difficult for me to think clearly, remember things or even make decisions.

• Confusion also cause loss of confidence making me loose control and feel powerless.

The mental effects of confusion can be very distressing, but there are ways to cope with them.

Share a brief story in which you find yourself confused and how did you get rid of that situation?

There was a time in secondary school, I was always good in mathematics. There was this topic Binomial expansion, I thought it would be easy for me as other topics were. I didn't pay much attention in class when the teacher was teaching thinking it will be easy as usual.
Few weeks to exams, I decided to revise on that topic. Behold, everything was looking really strange to me, I was confused!
To some extent, I felt like I'm not good in mathematics and I felt so confused and sad.
I did not know what to do, could not ask for help because everyone believed that I was good in mathematics and should not be asking for help.
Everyday, I kept spending much time on it so as to understand the topic but little or nothing was clear to me.
Finally, I decided to summon courage and ask for help. I met my classmate that was also good in math and asked him to explain it for me.
First of all, he asked me to explain what I understood about the concept so far. second, he was able to identify my area of confusion and where I needed help. Third, he used examples and explanations to help me understand the topic.
By taking these steps, we were able to overcome my confusion and I understood the topic.
I felt relieved and greatful for his help. This experience taught me that I should always seek for help whenever I am confused.

That was how I was confused and how I also got rid of the situation.
