What do you understand by the word Grandfather? |

Grandfather is the man who gave birth to my father or mother. He is my dad's dad or my mum's dad. By ranking, I'm the third generation from him, with my parents being his second generation. They are wise, they pass down traditions, values and stories to new generation. They are mostly the first point of support to grand children. They ensure a families history is handed down. They usually provide support based on their life experiences.

It has been quite difficult putting my thoughts down as my grand father breathed his last on the 20th of January this year. He lived a long life, a quite fulfilling life as he died due to his age, his health retarded so much that his system could no longer digest food, and his senses now deceived him. No matter how old a person gets, death isn't beautiful in its fresh stages. My mum's father passed on in 1999 and so I have very little memories of him.

In my present neighborhood there's no old man. I've lived in several areas with elderly men and one thing in common with them all is they tend to pursue a peaceful life, want you to say sorry and they're strict when they need to be and also fund of children being around them.

The best advice received from an old man, I think would be my grandpa saying, no matter how wealthy you become, stay close to your family, something should not make you neglect your family as you'll only live with regrets in the future.

It's a beautiful topic to write on as fathers, grandfather's play an important role in society, they're always the first to congratulate you or hold you when you fail. It's beautiful to have them around.

I'm very sorry, but it was easier to run off the topic seeing I didn't want to avoid it totally. Today I join my cousin's and aunt to pay last respect to their grandfather and father in-law respectively.
