Greetings to the amazing people of this community, I trust you are doing great. I am here to participate in this food diaries contest organized by @artist1111, and I'm still your girl @tripple-e from Nigeria; welcome to my blog.

I have been craving for cocoyam pudding (we call it in my dialect "Oto ebre") for a while now; I needed something from the conventional food in the likes of rice, beans, spaghetti, stew, soups etc.

So I woke up this morning and decided to satisfy my cravings.
"Oto ebre is one of our local delicacies, mostly prepared for a nursing mother, someone who just gave birth. It is believe that its has the potency of making someone to add weight if eaten consistently 😀.
But today mine was not with the intentions of adding weight o, I just ate it to caress my taste buds.

How To Prepare Cocoyam pudding

The Ingredients:
Cocoyam (ebre); the main ingredient
Periwinkle(mfi)
Crayfish (obu)
Seasoning cubes
Fresh pepper (ntuen)
Fish (iyak)
*Cow skin (ikpa enang); optional
Palm oil (aran)
Onions (oyim)
Salt (inung)
Curry leaves: optional and then
Water (mmong)

The Process:-

Step 1:
You pick up your cocoyam, use your kitchen knife to peel off the unwanted skin👇

After you finished peeling it, you cut it into small sizes, so that it will be easier to hold when you are crating it; something like these👇

Step 2:
Then after that you wash it thoroughly with water, pick up your crater(okwok) and start crating it. Some people may decides to crate it with a machine but I enjoyed doing it in the local way, I employed the use of my hands as a hundred yards wife material that I am🤣🤣.👇

Step 3:
Put your desired quantity of water in a pot, place it on your cooker or gas, mix all your ingredients in the pot; your fish, crayfish, pepper, seasoning cubes, salt to taste, onions. Then allow it to simmer well👇

Start cutting the crated cocoyam in smaller sizes into the pot continue till you finish. As seen in the left picture above. Cover your pot then allow it to cook very well, then after that put your onions add palm oil immediately to it, and then don't forget to add your periwinkle too.
