Vitamin D is one of the important vitamin that we need for the healthy organism, especially in early children’s age it is important for the development. I remember from the past that my grandmother was talking about the disease that we rarely hear today it is rickets or often we might heard it as rachitis. The children have deformities of the bones, especially it is the bowed legs, weakness when children are not able to move appropriately and also the growth of children was reduced. One of the best source of Vitamin D is food and it is oily fish, like salmon and sardines they are my favourite fish that I eat almost once a week. I believe for babies of children they may not like such fish but may able to have some milk that is rich in Vitamin D, also in egg yolks and red meat.
For adults there is necessary among of Vitamin D in order to maintain a healthy balance our bone profile, what we need is vitamin D at 600 international units a day when people get older over 70 years of age they will need 800 IU a day because we know that with time our bones become more fragile and elderly easily develop osteoporosis. Often we are not able to get this amount of Vitamin D and often we need additional supplements with Vitamin D. Often our doctors check Vit D level and decide about the amount that we need to take.
If we know daily requirement then it is easy to calculate how much approximately we need a month of Vitamin D and it is 50,000IU of Vitamin D a month. Often the doctor will advice to take the supplement for three to six month and then often we can make a break. Often during summer time it is advised to spend time outside on sun to get natural synthesis of Vitamin day in our skin by sunlight.
I hope you also learnt something interesting today and I would like to invite @dave-hanny, @meriseptriyanti @djvijay for the contest.
