Grilling a whole pig with friends is not only a delicious experience, but also a fun and social process that requires time, attention, and good organization. This ritual is usually an event that brings people together around the fire and creates unforgettable memories :)

The first step in preparing a whole pig on the grill is choosing the right pig. Typically, a pig weighing about 20-30 kilograms is used for this type of preparation, which will be enough for a large group of people. The meat should be well cleaned and prepared for roasting. The pig can be gutted and prepared depending on your preferences - with or without the skin. If you decide to roast it with the skin, it will give extra flavor and crunch.

Next, you need to prepare the marinade. This can include a variety of ingredients, such as salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary, thyme, honey, and vinegar. You can also add a little wine for extra flavor. It is a good idea to let the pig marinate for at least 8 hours, and even better overnight, to allow all the flavors to meld.

Grilling a whole pig requires special equipment. You can use a large metal grill or a special rotisserie that will turn the pig evenly. If you don't have one, you can place it on a rack and turn it by hand, but this requires more care and effort. It's important to have enough coals or wood to maintain an even temperature.

Roasting a pig usually takes between 5 and 8 hours, depending on the size of the animal and the temperature of the fire. You should periodically check the internal temperature of the meat (using a meat thermometer) and baste it with fat or marinade to keep it juicy. During the roasting, you will enjoy the aroma of the meat that will spread around.

After the pig was ready and we all enjoyed the juicy meat, we continued with the preparation of skewers. This is another way to enjoy delicious meat combined with fresh vegetables. The necessary things for the skewers were pieces of meat, peppers, onions, (tomatoes and mushrooms). The meat is cut into cubes and seasoned with various spices such as salt, pepper, garlic and olive oil. The vegetables are cut into large pieces, and then all the ingredients are strung on skewers, alternating meat with peppers, onions and other vegetables of choice.

Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning them regularly to cook evenly on all sides. You can serve them with a side dish of rice, potatoes or salad to complete the delicious barbecue.

After the skewers were ready and we all enjoyed the delicious food, the evening continued with friendly conversations around the grill.

That's just part of the magic of grilling a whole pig with friends. It's wonderful when food and company come together in one unforgettable event :)))
