Today's Recipe, Week No. 53: "Corn Porridge"

Hello Iron Chef friends.. How are you?

Have you ever made porridge?, or just enjoyed it?.. This is a very delicious dessert and has a lot of nutritional content. Actually, there are many types of porridge that we can make with various ingredients.

For this opportunity, I will make a recipe for "corn porridge" which is very popular in Indonesia, our country. Considering that we are currently fasting, this corn porridge is very suitable to be served as a menu to break the fast.

The carbohydrate content and several other nutrients contained in this porridge will make the stomach full quickly and the body more energetic.


✅INGREDIENTS:

  • 100 grams of rice, soak for 15 minutes then wash clean.
  • 1 sweet corn.
  • 1 medium-sized sweet potato.
  • 100 grams of grated coconut (for making coconut milk).
  • 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
  • A pinch of salt.
  • 1 pandan leaf.

✅PREPARATION OF INGREDIENTS:

  • Prepare 300 ml of coconut milk from the grated coconut that we have prepared above.
  • Wash the corn and slice it.
  • Wash the sweet potato and cut it into cubes.
  • Wash the pandan leaves and cut them into two parts then tie them at the ends.

✅HOW TO MAKE:

  • Prepare a frying pan, add rice and corn.

  • Pour 500 ml of clean water and let it boil then add salt to taste.

  • Cook the rice and corn until cooked or about 15 minutes.

  • Add the sweet potato and pandan leaves that have been tied.

  • After that add the coconut milk, stir evenly.

  • Add granulated sugar and cook until perfectly cooked.

✅Tips:

  • Use good quality ingredients. Especially using corn that is still young and not too hard.
  • Do not soak the rice for too long so that it does not break easily.
  • Use medium heat so that the porridge does not burn easily.
  • After pouring the coconut milk, it is better to stir continuously until cooked. The goal is so that the coconut milk does not clump.

For those of you who are fasting, this dish is very suitable to be served for breaking the fast menu. However, in general this porridge is also suitable as a breakfast menu and even as a dessert.
