"Recipe of the Day, Week No: 45: (MILK RICE)”

So hope you are doing well and as usual I am here with another srilankan traditional recipe for my food lovers around the world.

MILK RICE


Milk rice, which is considered to be another national food of Sri Lanka, is considered a divine food that our ancestors bequeathed to protect the health of future generations.

Sri Lankans consider milk rice as a symbol of prosperity and at the beginning of any auspicious activity they start the work by making and eating milk rice and this is indeed a healthy and nutritious food.


INGREDIENTS

  • Raw rice - 400g
  • Cups of condensed coconut milk - 03
  • Salt - 02 teaspoons
  • Cups of water - 03

METHOD


Step 01

  • First, wash the raw rice well and put it in the rice cooker.

  • Then add water until the rice is covered and cook this raw rice as you normally cook rice.

  • Then put this rice in another bowl and add coconut milk to it.

  • Then mix it well and add some salt.
    Then stir occasionally until the curd is removed from the stove on low flame.

  • After about 15 minutes, all the milk has evaporated and the curd is mixed, remove it from the heat.
    Now thin this milk rice on a board or plate and cut it into pieces as you like.

You have presented a wonderful recipe here and thank you very much for mentioning me. Such a beautiful recipe which is very tasty and also very healthy. Especially for small children, such foods are very healthy. We call such foods as payas in our country and we like them very much to feed our children because it is very nutritious, has milk and rice with it.
