Hello steemians..
🍯Have you ever made jams? Tell us about your experience.
yes,
I have prepared jam many times for fruit seasons. Pinnaple jam and strawberry jam are my kids favorite jams. So therefore my experience in making jam has always been good. Kids can make quality jam at home without any preservatives and we can add or reduce sugar as per our wish so everyone can enjoy.
A tea party where guests gather at home gets a high value for various foods made from homemade jam. Also, homemade jam is more economical because it is made from real fruits. This is a new experience for the students and they also gain experience and knowledge from these things.
Gelatin should usually be added to give the perfect jam texture in sugar-free jams. I don't really make large quantities of jam, so I don't need to add any preservatives to preserve it since I'm actually giving it to the kids. But usually sodium benzoate is used as a preservative which increases the shelf life of the jam up to 3 months.
🍯Present a jam recipe, you can make the recipe presented in this course or the recipe of your choice (details utensils, ingredients and step by step)
In the area where I live, it is woodapple season these days. Therefore, woodapple is very common. So today I am getting ready to make woodapple jam.
- Woodapple 300 g
- Sugar 150 g
- Water cup 1/4
- lime juice 1 tsp
- First of all, take a well-peeled Woodapple, break the shell, use a spoon and put the pulp in a bowl.
- Then put it in the blender and add 1/4 cup of water and blend it well for about 4-5 minutes.
- Blend the seeds well and get a thick pulp. Then put it in a non-stick pan and cook on low flame for about 02 minutes.
- Now add sugar and cook on low flame for another 15 minutes. Our aim should be to remove the water without burning it.
- Then after it starts to thicken, keep mixing until it becomes a thick paste.
- Then switch off the flame and then add 1 tsp of lemon juice and mix well. Then let the jam cool completely.
🍯Do you have any special tips for making jam? Share them.
- When lifting the jam with a spatula, the jam should be a thick paste without dripping.
Try pouring a few drops of the prepared jam into a plate, if it stays firm without moving, it is ready.
Always allow to cool and store in a sterilized glass container. Boil bottles and lids well for about 20 minutes.
Always be sure to refrigerate the jam after use.
Always use a clean and dry spoon for that.
- Will need to get fresh fruit regularly. Focus on seasonal fruits for the tastiest fruits.
- Stir in the fruit and sugar mixture over the lowest heat, making sure you stir frequently to avoid burning your mixture.
🍯If you had to choose one food to accompany your jam, what would it be? Present your choice by showing how you would enjoy both ingredients together.
Bread is usually the most delicious combination with jam, but there are many options to enjoy jam. I make jam cookies by adding a drop of jam to homemade cookies. Also put it between the cake layers and make a sandwich. But today I thought of making woodapple tart.
Prepare the tart crust and add the filling from woodapple jam. Then bake and make the delicious tart. It was really delicious. The kids loved eating it this way.
So, this new year, my family is happy to be able to eat jam in more delicious ways.
