PREPARING A SIMPLE OKRA SOUP
Introduction
Okra soup is a native soup popular in rural areas of south-south Nigeria. It is well known for its medicinal and vegetative contents. Research by top food nutritionist have shown it's good benefits when will prepared it is very easy to prepare and very delicious as compared to other rural foods.
Today I am going to tell us the necessary ingredients and show us simple steps on how to prepare okra
INGREDIENTS
- FISH & STOCKFISH
- MELON
- OKRA
- PALM OIL
- PEPPER, MAGGI, SALT, ONIONS
DEFINITION OF INGREDIENTS / FUNCTIONS
FISH & STOCKFISH: this may be dried or fresh anyone is an advantage
MELON: is soup condiments used in making soup thick and not watery
PALM OIL: oil gotten from palm fruits always reddish in colour and adds sweet taste to the soup.
PEPPER, MAGGI, SALT AND ONIONS: simple food ingredients used in almost all regions of Africa for making soup.
STEPS FOR PREPARING OKRA
Step 1 cut the okra in small pieces using knife
Step 2 prepare and wash the fishes and stockfishes to remove sand
Step 3 cut the onions and steam them together using water
Step 4 add oil and okra with all the remaining ingredients to taste
Step 5 allow to steam for few minutes
Step 6 your soup is ready for consumption
