Rice is a food that is loved by almost everyone and I am a friend of rice. I don't mind eating rice more than 50 times a day still not be satisfied, with eating rice.
Jollof rice is my favorite dish that I have enjoyed cooking right from when I was growing up. Today, I am going to be sharing with you simple cooking tips for jollof rice.
Before, I begin sharing with you these simple tips for cooking jollof rice, take a minute and observe the face of this plate of jollof rice.
The rice looks like Nigeria party jollof rice, despite not using many ingredients in cooking the rice. Cooking jollof rice is one of the simplest things to do in the kitchen when it comes to cooking food and all you need are the necessary ingredients such as the one shared below.

- DRY FISH
- CRAYFISH
- 🍅 TOMATO
- VEGETABLE 🛢️ OIL
- 🌶️ PEPER
- 🧅 ONION
- SEASONING CUBES
- SALT 🧂 TO TASTE

- When cooking rice, it is advisable you parboil it first so that you will not end up eating mushy rice or stone. In this case, parboil your rice for about 5 minutes.
- In the process of waiting for your rice to be parboiled, rinse and grind fresh pepper, crayfish, onion, and slice onion and keep aside.
Tip 1: To make your rice have flavor, begin by sauntering your slice of onion. Put oil, on fire then add a slice of onion and allow it to fry for about 2 minutes before you can stir in your tomato paste and fry.
Tip 2: If you have garlic and ginger add them and cook with the tomato paste for about 5 minutes.
Tip 3: Add your blended peppers. At this point, there is no time frame for frying your pepper. You can stop frying the pepper when you notice the sauce has become thick, and the vegetable oil is floating on top of the sauce.
Tip 4: At this point, to make your rice have flavor, add curry powder, thyme, salt, pepper, dry fish, and seasoning cubes. Taste and adjust your seasoning right away if there is a need for you to do so.
Tip 5: Add the parboiled rice and a small quantity of water and stir to mix properly. After you have stirred it, cover the pot and allow it to cook well.
Conclusion
This is just my way of cooking jollof rice which I have shared with you. Note there are many ways of cooking jollof rice and trying this method I have shared might be an added advantage to your cooking skills.
