This is an aquatic plant which is also used as a leaf vegetable. In Sri Lanka, this Mukunuwanna is so famous as a high nutritious vegetable that it is said to eat this thrice in a week.

There is a weed plant which is very similar to Mukunuwanna and the difference between them is there are bumps with white colour small flowers only in Mukunuwanna.
Otherwise both are so similar that we have to be very careful when picking them.

The nutritious value of it can't be ignored as it is really healthy for eyes, skin, hair, immunity ,digestion and many more diseases related to those body parts.

We eat it as porridge , mallum and as a curry using coconut milk and follow you can see the mallum I made with scraped coconut, salt, turmeric, onions and chillies .
