Bloodstains everywhere doesn't mean it was a sacrifice or a massacre. None of this is inclusive. I am not sure the @steem.ofanimals community or @muzack1 would love to see this. The truth be told, I am an activist but not a vegan. This is not a molestation. Why am I putting all this up? Just to make a good beginning, so here you are reading this publication.
We are still in the Christmas season, aren't we? Are the decorations you made down? I am sure @adriancabrera can attest that most decorations for Christmas celebrations have not been loosed in South America, and for some, the scent of the new year is still in the air, party after party. Some schools and workplaces haven't resumed making the vacation longer and worth a miss.
Crossover nights are always amazing; grasses and tires are piled up, burnt to ashes to give light in village cornerways and most parts of the town. I am sure even military personnel burnt some tires in the barrack, running round and making some joyful chants.
I wasn't left out, and this publication is designed to tell you how to kill a goat for these celebrations. Chefs like @pandora2010 and @eliany will be happy to see this. I didn't know how to kill a goat until now. I have learnt a lot when it comes to animal butchering, and apart from chickens, which can be strangled by the hand to death (hey!! that's not advisable; just telling you it's easier to kill), my few days of going on a vacation to celebrate Christmas and crossover making merriment with family and friends in the new year had me learn how to butcher a pig and a goat...
Goats are domestic animals and are bigger animals than chickens, but if you wish to feast with family and friends, do you know how to kill it? I thought I would need a big wood to hit it on the head, but nah, it is not done that way.
Step 1
- First select from your herd or pen the goat you wish to kill; I picked a male goat of about 2 years old and took it to the bush.
Step 2
- I tied both legs; on slaughtering the goats, they will be flailing, so this is helpful in case of blood splash.
Step 3
- Pick a cutlass well sharpened, raise its head up, and cut it on the front neck region very close to the head on the oesophagus; control the head to the pithole you dug on the ground so that the blood splash will have a directional flow.
Hang it this way |
---|
Step 4
- After this, the goat, after a complete blood drain from the lungs region, is hung on a stick tightly stuck to the ground; the head is hung on the tip, facing the top, meaning the tip has to pass from the neck to the mouth. If the stick has a constriction on the top region, it will be very much preferable to prevent it from falling while burning.
Step 5
- The fire is set, and palm fronds are gathered round to burn it. In very developed places where there is not a frond or to avoid so much pollution, petrol is poured on the entire body before burning, while kerosene is filled in a bottle and splashed on the body as it keeps burning.
Step 6
- I watched the goat-killing part on YouTube; there is virtually no knowledge that cannot be gotten on the internet space today; only your level of curiosity will push you to learn. Mom was the one who killed it and did the rest.
Hair burns |
---|
Step 7
- After burning and making sure all parts of the body are without hairs, you unhang it; a small hair on a particular part doesn't mean you should set the fire again; it could be burnt separately.
Before this last few steps make sure you wash the goat thoroughly with water and soap to take out the charcoals and make the skin clean |
---|
Step 8
- Cut off the goat head and keep it separately; remove the hoofs and start butchering.
Step 9
- The first parts that should be detached are both the upper and lower limbs, and make sure they are detached the way it is seen on the picture.
Step 10
- After this is the bisection; this is done from the anus region to avoid bursting the bile; it is bisected in such a way that the stomach organs are brought out and kept separately, while the flesh/skin is placed in a separate container.
Step 11
- The kidney, lungs, liver, and other organs are detached while the intestines are kept in a container to be washed.
Step 12
- To wash the intestine, you get a funnel with a tiny mouth that can pass through the intestine hole; water is poured to flush the intestine till it becomes clean; it is then weaved as if you are knitting with a crocheting pin (learn crochet by @naka05). but this is done loosely, and the hand is used; that is why I call it weaving. It is weaving straight, no bending corners. I believe you grasp (make sure you wash the entire intestine before doing this).
Step 13
- After this the stomach is washed, the constituent is poured, and the inner part looks like a towel, rough and spongy.
Done |
Step 14
- Every part is then washed, and the skin/flesh is rewashed after being butchered to its desired form of cooking. Your goat meat is now ready to be used in all kinds of delicacies.
If you read this to the end, you just learnt how to kill a goat. You can do this for eateries and restaurants. I killed my goat for personal use. Say no to kwashiorkor; meat protein is in surplus. You need to own a pen; meat is costly in the market these days. To buy this goat will cost you N60,000-80,000 with the current steem price that's about 131.64 - 175.52 steem
