Do you think you have seasoning to prepare your meals? Why? If you consider yourself lacking in seasoning or you don't like cooking, share your experience with us as well.
Yes, I have seasoning to prepare my meals. I always make use of seasoning while preparing my meals because it makes them taste very nice and delicious and brings out a very good flavor. If it happens that I lack seasoning In my kitchen, what I will do is pause the cooking for a moment and go to the store for the seasoning because I can't possibly cook without my seasoning.
Who taught you to cook? Or how did you learn to do it?
I learned how to cook from my mum by staying close to her whenever she wanted to cook, and I also learned how to cook from my roommate in university. This guy used to work in restaurants before gaining admission into university, so I stayed close to him whenever he was in the kitchen so that I could learn how to cook food like Jollof rice, stew, soap, etc.
Do you consider seasoning to be innate, inherited, or learned?If you have studied or developed a specialty in the culinary arts, you can refer to it.
I considered seasoning to be learned. I don't believe that someone is born with the talent to cook. For you to know how to cook, you must be close to the kitchen, as it is said that practice makes perfect. I can use myself as an example.
I didn't know how to cook anything before, but by staying around my mom and my friend in the kitchen while cooking, I can tell you that I can cook almost anything with any seasoning, so I believe that seasoning is learned.
What are the condiments that you consider should not be missing from your meals to give them excellent seasoning?
The condiments that I considered that should not be missing while I am preparing my meal are
- Cary Fish
- Maggi
- Onion
- Salt
- Groundnut or red oil
- Ginger
- Curry
- Pepper
- Fish or meat
- Fresh or canned tomatoes
The condiments that I consider to be missing in my meal but that will still give my meals excellent seasoning are:
- Onions
- Fish or meat
In preparing my meals, I can do without onions and fish, but I cannot do without condiments like salt and Maggi because they are the ones that make our meals sweet.
What are the meals that your family likes the most? You prepare them with your fabulous seasoning.
The meal that my family likes the most is Jollof rice .
Seasonings and ingredients used
- Rice
- Maggi
- Curry
- Salt
- Fresh or canned tomatoes
- Groundnut oil
- Crayfish
- Thyme
- Fish or meat
- Onion
How I prepared my Jollof rice using my seasoning
I parboiled the rice, washed it, and kept it aside.
I blended the pepper and crayfish and kept it aside.
I sliced the onion and kept it aside
Cooking Procedures
I put a pot on fire and I allowed the pot to dry a little bit, then I poured a small quantity of walnut oil into the pot, then I allowed it to get hot before I put in the slice of onion. I allowed it to get hot for a little while, then I put the sachet of tomatoes inside the pot and fried them for like 5 minutes,
then I added a small quantity of water to it so that it would boil for a while.
then I will add the rice, and I will put my Maggi, salt, pepper, crayfish, or fish, and turn the food to mix well with the seasonings.
Then I will now cover the pot and allow the rice to boil for a while, and when the water I put into the pot has dried up, I will now carry the food down from the pot. That is how I prepare my delicious Jollof rice using my seasoning.

Yes, I concur with your assertion. Seasoning brings out the taste in prepared meals. They add flavor but one most important thing is to apply them moderately to help balance every other ingredients used in the meal.
