Steem Engagement Challenge S7-W4: The secret of my seasoning

Hi steemians, this is another week of the engagement challenge and also happens to be my 4th entry for the week. I hope to respond more tentatively using the contest guidelines as stipulated by the organizers. I must commend this noble community for the great topics that are always tailored toward practically inclined entries. This would help build creativity and as well reduce incidences of plagiarism. Let's get started guys...

Do you think you have seasoning to prepare your Meals

I will want to make a little brief discussion about the word seasoning before diving into this question. Seasoning is those substances that are added to good to make them tasty or enhance their flavor. Barely all we need to add to our food play one role or the other which hence makes them categorized as seasonings.

For me, seasonings are indispensable while preparing our meals. They are that essential part of the meal that adds flavor and as well creates a kind of balance between all the ingredients used while making the meal. Some of the majorly used seasonings are salt, spices, cubes, and herbs.

We have to note that, they can be seen to appear in different forms. They can be sweet in nature, savoury, bitter, or acidic in nature. Their usage in our meals depends on our choice and need at every given time. Their nutritional value is one of the drivers for choosing them.

I am an active user of seasoning while making my meal. However, this has to be done in moderation so as not to over-taste the meal.

Who taught you to cook it how did you learn to do it?

I come from a home where gender does not really matter when home chores are involved. This was an avenue for everyone to learn the basic process of family virtue. It was a great privilege for me having learned how to cook from my mum.

This was a task we all felt disturbed during the learning process but to our advantage this point in our different homes.

Do you consider seasoning to be innate, inherited or learned?

Since cooking is learned, so is seasoning. For those who missed the basic cooking schedule at home missed it to be learned and they are likely going to visit the chef school for tutorials. This is also applicable to those who want to perfect cooking as a profession or for personal use.

Therefore, I consider cooking to be learned since in my own case, I got the teachings from my dearest mum. Since it is learned I should be guided in its application during meal preparation. I can not be found just introducing seasoning into a meal without knowing the quantity that should be normal for it.

What are the condiments that you consider should not be missing in your meals to give them excellent seasoning?

I have slightly mentioned some of the types and forms of seasoning in the cause of explaining this topic. However, these are the detailed condiments that should be considered in most meals we prepare;

  • Salt
  • Cubes
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Thyme
  • Saint Leaf
  • Pepper (types to be used based on choice)
  • Onions

While preparing our stew or soup, this seasoning can as well serve for both preparations. we have to remember that, moderation is key to creating balance among all ingredients used.

What are the meals that your family likes the most, you prepare them with your fabulous seasoning

I have constantly made some of the meals at home which my family finds delicious. These meals include;

  • Jellof Rice
  • Rice & Stew
  • Steamed Chicken
  • Fried Rice
  • Tomatoes Egg Sauce

One of the commonly used seasonings that have remained more nutritious is ginger/garlic roots. If we check very well, they are known to contain anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiviral components that keep the immune system in top gear.

In the preparation of all these delicacies, most of the listed seasonings were present. The likes of salt, onion, thyme, pepper, ginger, and cubes.

Conclusion

Seasoning ays a vital role in the preparation of our meals. They make meals tasty even when they are yet ready due to their nice aroma. They are indeed our helping hands in making sweet meals due to the flavor and balance they offer. In the same vein, they are nutritious in their composition as most of them are either immune boosters or inevitable avenues of getting some of the body's requirements.
