A Rehabilitation Zoo for Animals // CLUB75

Hello everybody! I've been talking about plants that I've seen in different countries but today I want to tell you a little about animals and exactly about those animals that live in the middle zone of my country.

When I worked as a singer on ships going along the Volga River, we often stopped by a place called Mandrogi. The place itself is located on the northern Svir River between two lakes Ladoga and Onega Lake.

Mandrogi is a small village with a national flavor, but today I won't talk about it. I would like to tell you about another interesting place.

Not far from this village there is a small but very interesting zoo, which you need to get to by ferry. The zoo is located right in the forest and occupies a fairly large territory.

I don't really like zoos, but here, along with cages, there are spacious aviaries in which animals live. You can touch them and you can pet them.

There are no exotic animals in this zoo, but this zoo is unusual because it is a kind of animal rehabilitation center.

Wounded gulls are treated here, and then released back into nature. Many animals of this zoo have their own difficult life history: some of them were hit by a car, some were dying in the forest, some were mistreated by people.

The zoo sheltered and saved all these animals and maybe that's why there is such good energy here. Raccoons, foxes, rabbits, ferrets, hawks and many other animals live in this zoo.

Here I am trying to feed the goat.

There is also an aviary with moose, but moose have a very free lifestyle: if they want to come -they come but if they want to go away- they leave, so we could not see them.

Zoos have the advantage of seeing animals that are wild and difficult to observe, but in reality it is sad because they are not in their habitat, I like animal shelters better, they try to take care of them and find a way to make them feel comfortable, then some go to their homes, these places have grown due to the high demand of hunters, it's a shame, but what a beautiful place you visited, beautiful photographs. Greetings

thank you for your nice comment! in this zoo animals were saved by people, so this is not a usual zoo but you are right: often it is sad to see the animals in cages.
