Kamranga (also known as Starfruit) is a native plant of Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. This fruit is popular in South-Pacific and East-Asia parts.

The fruit is about 2 to 6 inches long and elliptical in shape. It usually has five prominent longitudinal slopes, but as a rare instance, it can sometimes have 4 or 6 or more slopes. It looks like a star because of the division or division of the shape of the cross. Kamranga's skin is thin, smooth, and waxy, and when mature it has a dark yellowish light color. The inner fleshy space is clean and light yellow in color. Each fruit may have 10 to 12 flat light brown seeds that are 0.25 to 0.5 inches wide and bound with soft and sticky stems.

The leaves are 3 to 4 cm long and 2 to 3 cm wide. The nozzle is pointed and the surface is smooth.

Kamranga contains caramboxin and oxalic acid. Both substances are harmful to people undergoing kidney failure, kidney stones, or that undergoing kidney dialysis treatment. A combination of these can lead to kidney failure, hiccups, nausea, vomiting, mental confusion, and sometimes death.

If there are iron stains on the cloth, cut the kamaranga fruit and rub it on the stain, the stain will go away.

I have never eaten this fruit. And thank you for writing about the advantages and disadvantages so that people who suffer from kidney disease cannot eat this fruit. For the rest of us, however, it is very useful.
