Cocoyam as all of us may know is a plant that can spread wild and fast. You plant a portion of cocoyam and boom, youll see your whole land filled with em. This picture shows the height at which they can grow to. Sometimes, they grow more than 6-7 feets tall. Thats more than some people's height.
According to culture over here, not all cocoyams can be eaten as some species can cause deaths and serious complications.
Length and breadth:
The cocoyam flower is very large and can expand up to like 60cm in length and breadth..
Shape:
The shape of the cocoyam leaf is likened to the shape of the heart or love shape.. Some people say its like the shape of the triangle with curved edges.
According to my mother, we have a special type of food we cook here in my state, Akwa Ibom state. The food is called Ekpangkukwo. The food is simply made by grating water yam and cocoyam tuber and then using the leaves of yellow cocoyam to wrap it.. Ill be dropping the steps in preparing Ekpangkukwo.
