CLUB5050 Green Paddy Ricefield

Hello all steemians

Yesterday my family and I went around. We visited some places by motorbike. We were so bored after staying 10 days just at home for self isolation after i got covid-19 infected. Yeah it was the first time i got covid-19 during this pandemic. Just stayinh at home without doing anything may kill us slowly.
We went to some places for enjoying the day and scenery. Some paddy ricefield is not far from my home because we live in the outskirt of the city. Paddy or rice is grown along the year in Indonesia, no matter the season.
I saw a green paddy rice field. In my Indonesia language, paddy ricefield is called "sawah". The plant is still young, about 2 months old I think. I didn't know the farmer. Usually farmers visit the ricefield in the morning and late afternoon. But after 3 months old, farmer usually spend more time in the rice field to kick off sparrow. Yeah in Indonesia sparrow is considered as pest. They may eat the grain in abundance and cause big loss for farmer.
Usually it is ready to harverst when 3,5 months old. Most farmer in Indonesia still harvest the rice in old traditiona way, using sickle, not machine. Harvester machineis still rare to see because the price is too much for most farmer in here.
Paddy needs alot of flowing water during the first month. Lack of water may cause the plant thin and have less grain. The leaves also may turn yelllow and that is not good for the growth. Fertilizer is a must to make the plant grow normal and bear more grain. Paddy needs enough sunlight too. Indonesia has two season only and that is apropiate for paddy to grow well. But when wind come fast, the plant may get destroyed.
Paddy is very important for us, because it is our staple food. We eat rice three times a day. So you can imagine how important is it for Indonesian.
