What do you understand by climate change?

Climate change is the reality of drastic changes in weather conditions around us. Which people are now really experiencing its actual impact. But when I was younger, the weather changes were far more predictable there was summer, monsoon, and winter at the right time of the year. But now the things are quite different. Summer trends are high and winter conditions are low and it is unclear with rainfall. We have been taught that it human driven change such as factory emissions, car exhausts, deforestation etc. that is causing this change. Therefore the temperature of the earth is increasing, sea levels rising and melting of ice. Even the gaps between storms and rain do change. This is an area of concern for people in a country like ours. It is true that our lives are dependent on nature.

What are the advantages and disadvantages that rain can have on the earth?

Rain in Bangladesh means a lot. When i was child I always watched how the rains would cause the trees to become greener, crops to grow taller and the weather to become relatively cooler. However, now it is not as inevitable as it used to be and isn’t regular. Anytime there is a heavy downpour especially in the period of monsoons, sometimes the street around becomes flooded and difficult for us for moving. In the rural areas floods are experienced and many people will be left homeless.
In our country, rain is well known for being a farmer’s best friend as well as worst enemy. Over-exposure leads to so much water and the crops are damaged and under-exposure it is impossible to grow crops in the dry soil. For people living in the cities such as Dhaka, they have started regarding rains as something that brings traffic congestion, flooded roads and other discomforts. Rain is well needed and helpful but any rain that goes beyond a certain point becomes an added problem to life.

What are the advantages and disadvantages that the sun can have on the earth?

Sun

Sunlight is something which can be useful for all of us. Sun rise is from the day and plants develop through photosynthesis by getting their factor from the sun while our bodies develop vitamin D for our bones. Personally, I like taking a seat, in the mild morning sun and especially in the colder seasons. But you can't imagine how hot the sun gets when it is summer time. I do believe that the heat in our country has increase to a certain level that we can term it as excessive. Especially when the sun is at its peak, it is hot enough to want to prick one. For the van-rickshaw pullers and farmers this sun is painful to them. Sunburn dangerous to the skin as they may lead to skin cancer when one is over exposed to the sun. We need light as we cannot exist in the darkness but heat at times leads to severe damages within our bodies.

How do climate changes affect our health?

The problem of climate change is affecting our health in equal measure. During summer season people are likely to get heat strokes because of the high temperatures. A significant part of our country’s population cannot bear this increasing temperature any longer.

	Sometimes i take saline for dehydration (Self-snap)

Because of this heat, water are released from the body; therefore, the effects which are common with extreme dehydration are often exhibited. Another disadvantage is that during monsoon, there is raining and hence more breeding of mosquitoes. I have seen diseases such as dengue fever and Malaria which are some of the diseases that I have seen up close. Some years back, a child in our neighborhood was admitted to the hospital with dengue and everybody was worried at that time. Besides this, dust is also rising some diseases such as asthma, allergies, and other related diseases. I also have challenges with dust; compelling me to have a blocked nose while my eyes itch.
For people in countries like ours, climate change presents not only environmental challenges but also major physical and mental ones.
