What are Languages? Languages are the most important methods or forms of human communication. A language usually consists of a set of words and sounds that are used in a structured way and is used to communicate between people through Writing, speaking, and gestures. it's can also be defined as a symbolic means through which humans used to express and identify themselves in a given society.

in the world today there exist so many different languages and means if expressing oneself. we have a lot of indegeneous languages as well as official languages. it is important to note that just few languages are termed official because they are recognised and conventionally used and can be used in schools (educational systems around the world). After doing some research I found out 20 most widely spoken languages. the following are some most widely used languages across the globe:

How many languages do you speak? Which of them are your native languages and which ones have you studied?

I speak 4 languages currently. the four languages I speak are English, French, pidgin, kom (my native).

  • I grew up speaking pidgin and my native language which is Kom. it was our common speaking languages at home, with other neighbors and in the community that I grew up.

  • I learned English and French in school. I come from a bilingual country which is Cameroon. so in our schools we learn both in English language and in French language.

  • Because the country is made up of both anglophones and francophones. there are only two countries in the world that use English and French as their two official languages. These countries are Cameroon and Canada.

What methods have you used to learn other languages?

The method I used to study other languages is by learning in school. I learned how to read and write in French when I was still very young. That is in primary one. But I started speaking both in French and in English in the nursery level.

currently I still learn every day, because learning will never end. therefore I do research by using my phone and also I use the dictionary always to check new words and words meanings. so that's basically how I have been able to learn these languages

In addition to the ones you already speak, what other language would you like to learn?

Okay this is a very interesting question because I wish to still learn 3 other languages , I would have loved to learn more than that if it's possible. But the ones that I really want to learn is the Mandarin Chinese, Hindi and the Spanish. Yes because those are other three top ranking languages in the list above. the more you get exposed to the world the more you need to learn new languages, therefore since those languages are also commonly spoken by many people, I will like to learn how to speak, write and also read them.

What do you consider to be the most difficult thing about learning another language?.

The first most difficult thing about learning other languages is to understand what it says.

  • In the the world, every Community has its own particular diction, therefore learning another language can be difficult because one needs to also practice the correct diction or tongue.
  • difference in ascent: this refers to the way we pronounce. Therefore another difficulty can be to learn how to pronounce the words correctly and accurately.

Why do you think it is important to master several languages?

This is a very important question, I want to say that the world has become like a global village. this means that we cannot freely relate with other people if we cannot express our self in their respective languages.

  • Being Multilingual can be important because in the case of traveling from one country to another. If i learn how to speak the Chinese for example and I happen to travel to China, then I will find it very easy to cohabit with the people .
  • For studies: it is important to learn multiple languages because most schools have their own particular languages that they use to teach, depending on the country. for example travelling to France to study as a student requires that you must atleast learn French.
  • For job opportunities. a person who can speak multiple languages has more chances of securing a job abroad than someone who knows just his/her native language.
  • When we learn multiple languages we also learn a lot about the rich cultures of many countries and communities around the world.

Conclusion.

In conclusion, learning languages contributes significantly to communicate and interact in order to participate in multi-lingual communities at home and all around the world. This interaction and communication develops and reinforces the disposition to explore the perspectives or views behind the beliefs and practices of a culture and also to value such inter-cultural experiences.

Saludos y Bendiciones.

Hey, but how interesting my dear friend, your publication, in addition to knowing a language that I had no references to, such as kom, you have created a positional table of the different languages and their popularity in the universe. English, as the most widely spoken universal language in the world, as well as Chinese, agreed with its large population and I am pleased to see my beloved Spanish in fourth place as one of the first listed.
