I can speak approx 4 languages. Let me mention their names: Pashto, Urdu, Punjabi, and English. Pashto is my mother tongue. Urdu is our national language. So I put these two languages in the native category, as I have acquired them. Acquired language are also called first language.

Punjabi is the language of majority number of people in our country. I used to be in Punjab during my college days. I have learned Punjabi there. English is an academic, and official language in Pakistan. I have learned it in my schooling career. These both languages are unacquired for me, I have learned it from people, so these are called to be my second languages.

Difference between First language and Second Language

First LanguageSecond Language
It is an acquired languageIt is a learned language.
It is an unconscious processIt is a conscious process.
You acquired it unconsciously from the societyYou learn it in the schools or other proper settings.
What methods have you used to learn other languages?

As I have mentioned above, I know four languages. Two of them are acquired, and two are learned. The learned languages are English, and Punjabi. Let me take you through my learning process of these two languages.

Let's talk about English first. I have learned it in my academic career. All of our books are in english. It is the official language of Pakistan. The major thing is, I am doing my bachelor study in english. So all these factors contribute in my learning of this language.

Punjabi is the second language I have learned. I learned it in quite later stages of my life. Maybe six or seven years before. I learned it from my hostelmates, and college class fellows. In the beginning I used to tell them to teach me ten words perday. It continue for one month. Then I told them to teach me five new sentences perday, and then after one month they used to teach me 10 new sentences perday. After three months I was able to do little communication with them in Punjabi. The rest I learned by practicing it. Almost in an year I was able to speak fluent Punjabi.

In addition to the ones you already speak, what other language would you like to learn?

I will go with the option of Arabic. It's my greatest desire to learn this language. I have future goal for learning it, and InshAllah a day will come I will be speaking fluent Arabic. I have tried some times before to learn it, but unfortunately I couldn't continue it. I used to watch YouTube videos, and bought some books.

Arabic language has great importance in our religion. Quran is in Arabic language, all the major Hadees books are in Arabic, that's why I want to learn it. It is considered to be one of the most ancient languages of the world. Too much rich with Literature, and Art.

If I ever get a chance of learning other language I will go for Turkish. It's a too beautiful language. I like it's ascent. They have very beautiful proverbs, and idioms in their language. This language is also very rich.

What do you consider to be the most difficult thing about learning another language?

For me learning language is an interesting art. I love learning new languages. The most difficult thing in learning new language is, when you don't get a proper environment. Environment is one of the major factors in learning language. If you have a proper environment you can learn very easily, no matter how hard it is.

The approximate time for learning a new language is 6 months, but ofcourse it depends on the environment, and the IQ level of the learner. From my experience I can guess I was able to speak 70% Punjabi after 6 months.

The most important thing about learning new language is you have to develop your own interest in it. If you take it as a burden for you then you can't learn it even in 6 years. Take English as an example: we study English since our class first. We reach to class 10, but we can't speak fluent english, Why? It is because our interest is not developed in this language.

Why do you think it is important to master several languages?

Saludos amigo.

Thank you dear for your kind and beautiful words. You have a sophisticated skill of communication. Lots of love and respect.

Wish you all the best .

I wish you learn Arabic soon.

Thanks for reading my blog and best wishes.

Hello friend.
I'm glad to see your entry to the contest.
Yes indeed languages makes the world universal. It's connects people, defines them and give them a unique identity.

We all desire to learn different languages and that is very important because it gives us better opportunities in life.

I wish you all the best.

You're absolutely right when you said Environment and one's interest matter when it comes to learning a new language. Indeed nothing works if we're not interested in a particular thing, and if we don't practice what we've learned then it will be as if we didn't learn anything.

Thanks for the compliment dear. You have too much Witt with you.
Lots of love and respect.

I appreciate your compliment!

Thank you dear. You are such a nice fellow. Your precious words are nothing less than diamonds for me.

¡Saludos amigo!🤗

Huge respect dear, thanks for your kind words.

Yes dear, learning many languages has many advantages. It give you Witt.
