Methods Of Preparing Food

Preparation of food means not only cooking it but also washing it, peeling it, cutting it and preparing it for cooking. The germs present in the cooked food are destroyed. These are just some of the goal setting shareware that you can use to make your diet more nutritious.

Preparation of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables:

Fruits and vegetables are the highest sources of vitamins and salts. Some vitamins are dissolved in water. Some are lost in cooking. As far as possible, vegetables should be used in salads. Some vegetables we peeled and some are not peeled. In the same way, do not cut the vegetables too finely and small, but cut them into pieces of suitable size and cook. Try to cook the vegetables in your water on low heat, but if it is unavoidable to add water, add as much water as they are cooked in and cover them and cook them, otherwise vitamins B and C are lost together in steam.

Fruits should also always be cut after washing. Eat fruits such as apples, pears, potatoes and plum with peels. Try to make large pieces or slices when cutting them to save vitamins.

Preparation of Meat:

The chicken meat should be thoroughly washed to remove its blood etc. The organs trapped in its bones should be thoroughly cleaned. The beef or goat meat should be washed and placed in a sieve so that the water is well squeezed. The meat should be cooked, no matter who it is. If it is soaked in too much ghee or oil before cooking, it will not lose its salts. The meat should not be cooked on a high heat so that it is cooked from above. But it remains raw from within

Preparation of Cooking Pulses and Cereals:

Pulses and grains are the cheapest source of food found in the world. Cereals include wheat, rice, corn, etc. Most grains are used in the form of flour after grinding. If the flour is crushed by hand or with a mill, more nutrients can be obtained by using it including straw, while straw is extracted from the flour prepared in the mills, which also loses the mineral salts present in it. Lentils and beans are soaked in water before cooking so that the starch inside them softens and swells. When this starch is cooked, moisture and heat cause chemical and physical changes in it which makes it soft and easy to digest. Gets done.

Various Techniques of Cooking

01 - Dry Cooking

02 - Moist Heat Cooking

03 - Combined Cooking

The cooking methods are divided into three major groups.

(01) Dry Cooking:

It uses cooking methods that do not use water and steam at all. For example:

  • Grilling
  • Baking
  • Roasting
  • Frying
    Three frying methods are popular:
  • Deep Frying
  • Shallow Frying
  • Stir Frying

(02) Moist Heat Cooking:

Cooking methods that require the use of water and steam are all part of cooking. Following are the examples:

  • Boiling
  • Simmering
  • Steaming

(03) Combined Cooking:

They use both wet and dry methods, the food is first cooked or fried dry and then it is softened by putting it in water as desired, as is usually the case with our curry.
