I want to talk about cyber awareness i love to bring to your awareness one of the most rampant and easiest cyber threats phishing...
What is Phishing
Phishing is a type of social engineering attack often used to steal user data, including login credentials and credit card numbers. It occurs when an attacker, masquerading as a trusted entity, dupes a victim into opening an email, instant message, or text message. The recipient is then tricked into clicking a malicious link, which can lead to the installation of malware, the freezing of the system as part of a ransomware attack or the revealing of sensitive information. It's like fishing
There's a trap set (bait) that is sent into the water ... As soon as the fish gets hold of it
It is pooled out and before u know it everything about u is outside
I hope everyone gets the concept of phishing
Now phishing attacks targets all social media platforms for passwords and user names ...
Links are sent to groups and individuals in the name of companies and others ... Claiming to give free data, gifts, and money
And even threatening messages.
One thing u should know is that in as much as there are alot of free stuffs on the internet, there's nothing really free ... There's always a price to pay how you can know that you have a phishing link
- there's alot of pressure on u... There's always a "hurry" "now" .... So there's no time for u to think straight.
- it is always too good to be true ... But we all like free stuffs so
If I want to create one
I will just say
"watch this dance tutorial"
Most people will just click it and that's it
Because you will want to see the dance because you love dancing.
Ok another way is
There are always errors ... Grammatical and punctuation
Companies will never make such errors .
The thing is we don't read in between the lines to see those mistakes
Always excited
These are mistakes mtn can never make ... 1st sentence doesn't have punctuation... Who sees that appostroph before the link... Mtn doesn't make such mistakes .. they review and review and review before sending out
But because theres 10gb boom we won't read anything else
This link has been shortened... Most hackers use link shorteners ... So you always see this( bit.ly)... but it's not a guarantee because at times legit companies use it too .. mtn uses it once a while too
Be careful with any link that takes u to a place to input pass word and user name on any social media platform... Normally your are already logged in to your platforms
As soon as they ask u to do it again
Watch out ...
Any link is supposed to take u straight to the video or site u want to go
Not asking for passwords again
When you receive a link
Ask
What is it for and make sure u get a good explanation for the link before clicking
I just thought I should let u know that to retrieve somes social media account is at least 100k
So if u are careless about yours hope u have money ohhh
Phishing is real... Believe me u hardly see it coming
Soon you discover you are sharing your account with some one and soon u can't access it again
Let's be careful let's be conscious...
You can never be 100% secured ... There's no system in the world that is 100% secure even mark Zuckerberg who owns these platforms isn't secured
Just be careful
