Where does the Plastic Go

The picture is of a field in the North West of Northern Ireland, with the early summer sun shining through the scattered cloud onto the field. It struck me as I passed that I didn't know where the plastic went. On researching the matter the majority gets left in the ground or blown around the countryside. A very small proportion is biodegradable.
