I am not one of them. I do have my peculiarities but I'm not being torn apart by my tormented soul. I don't dismiss people who live their best most intense creative moments on the verge of mental breakdown, I would help if I knew how. Some things that have worked for me:
- I think about the work that I'm doing, not about me.
- I get enthusiastic about my work
- I work non-stop (around the clock) if after 12h of work I'm still energized I keep going. I'm onto something.
- If things don't come out the way I envision, I don't hurt myself but I break things, it doesn't have to be something expensive. (I did smash however one MacBook pro and several phones) Oops.
- Stay away from medication. 5HTP + L-Tyrosine + L-carnitine do wonders.
- Do loads of sport (I once did 125km's of cycling going round and round for 5h on a 3km circuit without stopping and without drinking water) The experience was divine.
- If you feel you're losing your bearings do ask for help, I mean, I don't know about you but once I was not feeling very well, I called my girlfriend and she really turned me upside down. I was on the verge so I broke my laptop and then I calmed down. However, since my laptop was the tool I was using to produce my work and was no longer working I had to revert to pen and paper. Oh well...
- And last but not least, Know thyself
