The inspiration for this work comes from the Story of Feyisa Lilesa and the Oromo people from Eithiopia. Feyisa whilst crossing the finish line to win his silver medal in the Marathon event at the 2016 Rio Olympics, crossed his arms above his head in solidarity with his people in protest. The Oromo people of Eithopia at the time had been protesting for many months the encrouchment of urban development into their traditional farmlands.

The Ayyanna are divinities from the monotheistic religion that originates from Oromo culture. They were believed to be messengers of Waaqa (God) that possessed men and women to communicate with the people. They also believed that each and every creation of Waaqa had their very own Ayyanna. This is Feyisa's Ayyanna.
