Brunost, or brown cheese as it is known in English, is one of Norway's most famous products. The brown cheese comes in several varieties, the most common of which is Gudbrandsdalsost.

The color of Norwegian brown cheese is obtained during the manufacturing process when the milk sugars reach higher temperatures.

Hot dogs are sold all over the world, but the Norwegian hot dog is unique in that it is typically served without bread. Norwegians prefer to eat a hot dog in a potato pancake called lompe.

Plse med Lompe is a traditional Norwegian street food sold at gas stations, train stations, and various kiosks.

FINNBIFF

Finnbiff is a traditional Norwegian dish made of sauteed reindeer meat that is typically eaten in the country's northern regions. It's a flavorful stew with a savory sauce that's also popular in Finland, Sweden, and Russia's far north.

SMALAHOVE (SHEEP’S HEAD)

This is possibly the least appetizing food from Norway, and it's literally a steamed or boiled sheep's head. Smalahove is traditionally served with potatoes and rutabaga.

Historically, it was a poor man's food, and people would cook and eat the brain with a spoon. Most Norwegians no longer eat this unusual dish, but it remains one of the most traditional dishes in Norwegian cuisine.

The most popular and iconic type of salmon in Norway, however, is Gravlaks, which is smoked salmon that has been marinated with herbs.
