Greetings everyone. How is everybody doing today? Hopefully everyone is doing well and having a good time in the community.
In the second part of this series, we've discussed about some of the most renowned games from 2007 - 2009. In this part we are going to talk about the most popular games from 2010 to 2011. Some of the best games of all times were released in this time period. And some of those games are still active and people still play those games even after a decade.
The best game from Rockstar before 2010 was GTA 4. This game was a major success. It had the most advanced open world gameplay available for that time period. The graphics, the story of the game, the gameplay physics all were top of the line and they are still holding up and competing with modern games. But another masterpiece created by R* was released in 2010. That game had and still has one of the most amazing story ever made in a video game. You might already know which game I am talking about. So let's not waste more words and let's get straight info facts...
2010
RDR or Red Dead Redemption has to be one of the best games based on the wild west era. This game had an amazing story. The graphics of this game was pretty good for the time. This game was mostly an action adventure type game based on the wild west. The best parts of this game excluding the story were the overall atmosphere, horse riding experience, shootouts etc. This game could really make you feel that you are in the american wild west. According to the story the age of the gunslingers were almost over in the timeline of this game.
The protagonist "John Marston" was persuaded or forced by the government to hunt down the remaining cowboys/gunslingers. John was forced to hunt down his former gang buddies whom he loved as brothers before they betrayed him in the prequel which takes place in Red dead Redemption 2. But that's a topic I will cover later when I'll be highlighting Red Dead Redemption 2. RDR acquired around 40 Game of the year awards and over 160 awards overall across different categories. This game had sold over 15 million copies around the world. It's a huge number considering this game was only available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Due to it's amazing results, this game was re-released this year on multiple platforms. But the fans were hoping that R* would make a remake of this game with the modern graphics but they disappointed us in that part. The graphics are still the same. The only difference is that this game is now available on newer or updated platforms. This game has a Dlc called Red Dead Nightmares. This DLC is also very popular. You get to play in a zombie infected land in this version. The story is very good and the overall gameplay of this version is also pretty good. But the story of this dlc is not canon or not connected to the main timeline atleast.
Another game was released this year. It won't feel nice if I don't mention this game too...
2010 - part 2
God of war 3 was another major success of 2010. This game had a huge fanbase when it came out and the hype for this game was astonishing. God of War series is developed by Santa Monica Studios. There are 5 games in this series. But the story of Greek mythology ended with the 3rd installment of the series. In this game you get to continue the story of Kratos, the spartan warrior who seeks revenge against the Greek gods for deceiving him and using him for their causes again and again. In this game, Kratos seeks to destroy Mount Olympus and the king of the gods, Jeus. You can play as the angry spartan and get to know how his story ends in the Greek universe.
This game won over 30 GOTG awards but fell short to Red Dead Redemption. Which is why this one is considered the second best game of 2010. But tbh, I like the gameplay of this one over RDR for it's hack and slash gameplay. God of War sold over 5 million copies overall. It's a great number considering this is a PlayStation exclusive game.
2011
One of the most famous games of 2011 was Batman Arkham City. This game really did live up to the hype. There are 3 games in the Arkham series. And most players like this one the most due to it's gameplay, story and creative boss fights. The game takes place in the open world prison city called the Arkham city. Because all the inmates of the Arkham asylum were released into this city and it was up to Batman to save the city from falling into madness. The best parts of this game were utilizing stealth, combat, and detective skills to take control over various situations. You can really hop in to the shoes of Batman in this game. The detective mode was really a unique idea which was done perfectly.
Batman Arkham series is developed by Rocksteady. This game sold over 12.5 million copies worldwide.
